hey
I think sattys are great to build your bankroll. They are far more soft then regular money MTTs. Just have in mind that some of pokerstars sattys when u get ticket mtt is allready playing and if it is turbo MTT u start with 3k chips with blind 100 or even bigger.
I would suggest that u play sattys for mtts that dont start soon so u can unregister and have T$ for playing ur games.

for 1.65 i think the sunday million satellite is a good one to play,
I ended up on the button yesterday and all i would havr done was cashout the ticket for tournament dollars....i play satellites all the time for small buyins and sell the tickets.
Sometimes satellites are great value, when there is a guarantee.
A few months back Party Poker had a lot of $0.10 and $0.20 buyin satellites on Sunday. I tried to play all of them, because they were so easy to get to the $1 or $2 tickets. I think I might have gotten a ROI of over 500% on those. But I think PP found out they were losing money, and discontinued them...
People seem to forget that satellites have intrinsic value, you don't have to play them for the entry to the main tournament, you can also play them for the T$.

thats all I usually play them for, many times I do not have the time to sit and play the bigger tournaments although when I find the time I hope I can make a good run.

Pretty much what the guys said above...! It's always worth playing them especially if you can get into a big money buy in tourney on the cheap...!
I turned some freeroll satellites into 5 .50c buy ins,...into 5 $10 buy ins,...then one resulted in a $100 buy in tic, and when I didn't use it in time, I got T$100. I also got $40 cash for the other 4 I didn't use...
That was all in the WPT promo on Party Poker just recently...

I think that satellites are a very good idea. They are notoriously difficult to win though and you must have a lot of patience to get through as well as skill. The freeroll satellites are the ones to play because of the difficulty of getting through

Depends on the satellites and how many steps there are. If they are one of those multisteps, they are mostly a waste of time if the players participating are too many. It is better to pay a little more and start higher than the first one.

Satellite is an artificial object which has been intentionally placed into orbit. Such objects are sometimes called artificial satellites to distinguish them from natural satellites such as the Moon.
A few hundred satellites are currently operational, whereas thousands of unused satellites and satellite fragments orbit the Earth as space debris. A few space probes have been placed into orbit around other bodies and become artificial satellites to the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Vesta, Eros, and the Sun.

My opinion is that it can be very profitable but you have to play the right ones. On pokerstars you have a satellites from $0,10 to $2.25 for the big sunday $11 tournament, which can save you a lot of money to try these.

Satellites are good satellites are our friends (classic line from an old Greek movie but in stead of satellites was an other word(a nation I think.) Of course I do not believe that these tournaments are waste of time . Specially when we can make our way in high buy ins tourneys with a fraction of its original buy in. Or some times with just a few FPP(frequent player points) Who can forget the Russian who won entry to major tourney(cannot recall now either name as I just woke up) in Pokerstars for 400FPP and finally won 1 million dollars with the phrase “i wont a million.

Remember that unless there is overlay (more in the prizepool than the players have paid into it),or if it's a freeroll satellite(which is entirely overlay), the only difference between a satellite and a regular tourney is the way people play... In effect, EVERY poker tourney is a satellite if you use the winnings to buy into a larger tourney.
I like the FPP satellites on Stars, as they are a way of turning otherwise useless points, into cash... but don't play a satellite just because of the target tourney - if you're not being offered good value, play one where you are
