It seemed fitting that I should receive an earful after a bad beat this week, just after a month of articles about the effects of ‘luck' in poker. With a number of pleas specifically about not giving an earful to your dealer should you get a bad beat. Clearly, he disagreed with my opinion. Today I'm going to look back at the hand, in an attempt to find out just why he called, and what I wou[...]   Read more » Live By Luck, Die By Luck

Love your title as being the prince of freerolls, freerolls are the best no risk and even if you play like crap you still have fun and have a chance of getting some money at the end of the day. Playing freerolls now as I dont have time to play seriously. So if you see me I will be playing like a crazy mad man lol. Cheers good luck and have fun most importantly! Cheers nice post!

The nice thing about freerolls is, that no matter how bad you play, you are still making money. Of course a really terrible player will make less than a solid player, but you will never lose any money. Big Smile

I think the call with pocket sevens was very thin indeed. I would have just called the raise and try to hit my set if i had the pocket pair. If a favourable flop comes you are getting great implied odds

If you are 100% sure, that you have 55% chance of winning,

playing the hand in a CASH GAME is always profitable.

It's true that playing freerolls you'll never lose money, you'll only make money if you also have some luck and poker skills.

On the other hand there comes a time when you need to ask yourself if when you reach a certain level it's worth to still play freerolls if in that time you can earn much more money on sng, paid mtt or cash games.

Freerolls are supposed to be there for you to learn the game,

but unfortunately the required playstyle in a freeroll is completely different than in a real money game.
