For a long time now, I have been wondering whether I was capable playing poker professionally. I think it's something that virtually every semi-serious poker player contemplates at some point... That is a hard lesson and one that I fall for.
If I start with say, $200 and drop to $150, I view it as $50 lost. But I shouldn't. I should view it as a new day with a $150 bankroll and work for there.
I guess it is things like that which make the difference between small profits and big profits.

thats why i dont quite fancy poker that much anymore, sure its amazing read and all that but its usually really stressful too.
i really dont want to age 1 year per month of playing poker so now im working on it much more. yea im much less tilt prone than when i was when i just started playing poker but still, its poker and incredilbe $(#(" can happen and once it does happen to me (and it does) i can lose my cool really easy
I am not even happy when i played for 40$ tourneys and i won that day 50$ (10 profit) But iff you do this everyday youre fast up and haveing a descent bankroll...
You always loose even iff youre are a pro You have to have youre mindset on playing a-game and the variance of loosing a/a vs j/10 ore something will turn there are always suckouts but with the best hand at the moment all-n you do just fine

yea thats easier said than done though because once things start going downhill its kinda hard to think about previous days wins or whatever
oh well i guess thats how we all operate though, big wins and lucky streaks are great and all that, but so easy to forget about... while bad beats crap feeling lasts much much longer and sometimes can cost you ur whole br too. And when there is no br left, long term results dont really come into your mind all that often
I'm really glad you shared this experience, so we don't have to experience it ourselves.
Luckily I've never had a massive downswing like that, I don't think I've ever lost more than 5% of my bankroll, but I'm playing way too cautiously, so I don't make much money either (about $2000 in the 4 years from when I first started to play, but most of that is from bonusses, freeroll winnings etc...).
I don't care about the money, just about being able to call myself a "winning player", and never having to deposit.

Yeah i can relate too, this is how i lost my bankroll, first time was like a played some zoom was going well for a week then suddenly was getting break even for one day , slept on it and the next day it got worse as i have lost some stacks and thought that i would have been in so much profit if not for this few days lost. So i tried to catch up by chasing and going for higher stakes games and eventually tilted all away. Cheers good luck hope you solve this problem!

hahaha great roller coaster ride there- i don't dar to count what's the roi of getting back your roll from those few cents back to 218 now the main question here imo is: whether it's actually a lot better to start your roll from scratch and try to build it aggressively as you did here or should one go the old "tested" route and deposit some and then risk it all?

That was one crazy ride but at least you won the money back but i would never recommend playing like this. After winning that monster pot in PLO, you should have called it a night and come back fresh
