A very disturbing story and our thoughts go out to this man's family. This story is like something out of a Hollywood film and for it to happen in real life is very upsetting. Condolences again to his family

So by the sounds of things his trusted driver was one of the men behind the kidnapping? Or did he die because his driver got cold feet over getting the money out to pay the men? Would be tough for the family since they payed to get there son/brother/uncle/cousin back alive

Yeah very disturbing news and that is why gambling is illegal in the states it gives rise to too much trouble and all kind of headache for the police and you hear those news everyday and they are right to have banned them. This is what made front news but what about these in small towns there should be more shocking stories on gambling there. Anyway disturbing news and you wonder if you should ever quit gambling or those things might happens, like getting into debt and so on.
After negotiating with the kidnappers, Chia-chin's family transferred $TW30 million (about $1 million) to three bank accounts instructed by the kidnappers and allerted the police. Hsieh, the chauffeur, went to withdraw the ransom but got cold feet and fled when he was asked to show his ID. Prosecutors issued a warrant to prevent Hsieh from leaving the country. However, about four hours later he still managed to board a flight to Thailand with a relative's passport. Police believe that Hsieh was accompanied by at least two other persons during the kidnapping.
This was not the first time Shih Chia-chin had been involved in a kidnapping attempt. According to Taiwan News, he survived one prior kidnapping attempt four years ago and has been keeping a low profile ever since. In 2005, he received an 18 month sentence for his part in an illegal online gambling operation, which accepted illegal bets from Taiwanese gamblers.

These types of stories do nothing to help the overall image of poker. It is a sad thing to have happened to his family. I hope they can somehow find some peace and that those responsible get true justice delivered their way. be cool Ronin
