DYM/DoN Expected ROI  0
For a winning DYM player, what kind of ROI would be classed as acceptable?

I have seen lots of different % shared around, its tough to know what is good and what isn't

I am keeping full records and think I can beat them, just wanna know whats a good target to set myself

What buyin level are you talking about?

A good ROI at micro stakes (say $5 and under) is a hell of a lot higher than what you could get at mid $30-$50 stakes.

I'm not sure I agree with this or not... but I keep reading that 1% ROI is fine. If you're a winning player consistently, it's good regardless of how much you're winning.

micro
I am currently:
32% at £2.25 (about $3)
9.8% at £3.30 (about $4.50)
12.5% overall combined.

I have a VERY VERY small sample size so figures aren't important atm (I mean small, like 100 games) and am just trying to find out:

Is this higher/lower than expected?
Sustainable?

Yeah I don't think I agree with this either. I don't wanna sit here grinding for hours for 1% if I can make 3% on cash, or 6% on mtt's etc.

I am kinda trying to find my best game.

Traditionally it has been:
SNG then MTT then CASH, but lately I seem to be doing very well on cash. Trying to work out if it is just because I am running hot (I seem to hit everything), or if working harder on my game is paying off.

Basically, I wanna play where my most profit is Tongue

Imo, the biggest money is on cash games if you really are working on your game. SNGs and MTT usually don't provide as much of an hourly rate, I think. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong Big Smile

I would say you are wrong ;p

Well not but, well.

Some players play well on sng's and mtt's but are hopeless on cash games (cough cough gus Hansen)
I think it depends on your game, temperament etc etc

It would be important to know what % of rake the site you play at takes out of these games.
Overall though it can be said that the majority of winnings will come from rakeback, unless the rake is really low (5% max).
Overall I'd say 10% rake is hardly beatable (I've read people on ipoker get up to 2% ROI at the 5€s with 10% rake, but not many) and I'd take a guess that the results you achieved so far are NOT substainable. Better play normal SNGs or play the Fifty-Fifties on stars. DoNs are only really worthwhile if you can put in lots of volume (at least 2K games/month) combined with a good rakeback deal (nothing less than 50% on ipoker/ongame/microgaming).

At the lowest stake i average like 25 % which is huge as at the bigger levels the roi will decrease but you should not only look at ROI but your hourly, why would you want 70 % ROI for example if you play just 10 games per month, you should go for volume and ROI will be less but more money, try to think in terms of hourly and games rather than just ROI. Anyway good luck, but any ROI greater than 10 % at the lower limits is good and at the upper limits any ROI is a good thing as you make money from rake back too!

I play at sky and the lower the limits, the higher the rakes in this instance is quite high.

The £2.25 pays out £4.
The £3.30 pays out £6.

The rakeback system is rubbish and hardly worth counting, I get 3 points for a £3.30 game and they are worth 3p.

I do think there is enough evidence of good players making decent profits on these. There are on skypoker at least

play the Fifty-Fifties on stars.

Do you have the chance to deposit on pokerstars? I have played these and besides being fun, I believe them to be pretty soft. I couldn't imagine it would be harder to make a profit on these than on DoN for a player like you. However I'm speking results oriented based on my experiences and might just have been variance that helped me out.

yeah I have played em, they are soft indeed

There are better ROIs substainable at that format, 5% (and more at microstakes) isn't too rare. Plus, you can always put in enough volume since the traffic is higher on stars. One would argue about missing rakeback, however it's not as bad as one would think (20%+ for silverstar already), and the higher ROI makes up for it.
