One London based gambler is so confident that the Scottish will vote against independence, that he's placed a series of bets totalling £900,000 on it at his local William Hill branch. The unnamed individual made his first move in June with a bet of £400,000 at odds of 1:4, he then made two more bets worth £200,000 each in August at 1:6 and 1:5, before finishing off with a final £100,000 bet last week at 1:5. The Scots voted more no's, he is richer with £193,000.

Not a bad return for the money invested. But i guess he got a little nerveous, when suddenly the polls showed a small lead for the Yes-campaign sometimes last weekend.

What a bet!!! This man must have been extremely nervous the last couple of weeks because the 'yes' campaign was gathering a lot of momentum and for a while they looked like favourites to win. Congrats to him

Was only "close" in the same way the Obama/Romney election was close... The press encouraged not to reveal it was all over, just so people would bother to vote.
If I had £1m, I would've happily bet the lot on 'No'
