Micro Stakes  0
So lately I have been reading a bit more on small stakes hold em (particuarly David Slansky and Mason Malmouth 'Small Stakes Hold'em') because I wanted to stray away from advanced theory and into the basics if I'm going to be sticking to micro for a while. I have been playing .01/.02 zoom NLHE and PLO (usually 3-6 tabling) and adopting the strategy I've been told to (limit pre-flop raising and re-raising range, the importance of position, playing the odds etc.), basic strategy.

It goes against a lot of my strategy (probably a few adjustments that needed to be made to my game, tightening up pre-flop particuarly) but I'm still not really seeing results in a consistant upward trend. Particuarly in PLO, I keep finding myself all in with AAxx and being outdrawn on by micro straights that I keep giving incorrect odds on, but get drawn on etc. Not that it bothers me too much, but I think I've played enough in BOTH PLO and NLHE to see a profit in the long run, but no real profit has been noted. Obviously, micro stakes provides a micro profit in $$ terms (obviously % terms are different, especially for the long run), and it is getting frustrating, because I believe that my play is profitable from an EV perspective, and my ability to extract value/limit value to opponents. Obviously, you will read this and think 'if you were playing profitabley then you would see a long run profit', and maybe that is true, but I believe my play is a profitable one.

I have a few questions to sum up this thread, the main being how long did it take you profitable players to turn a long run profit?

Can someone direct me to a good instuctional site/book, or perhaps free coaching? Could I potentially pay (in cash or perhaps over the internet sexual favours, or for free) someone on here to review a session of mine and give advice? (as soon as I figure out HOW THE F**K TO USE SOFTWARE).

How different is old poker strategy (The Theory of Poker, Super System etc.) to new poker strategy? Limit to No Limit? etc.

How the hell do I get rakebacks?

Am I wasting my time?

What is life?

Will the real slim shady please stand up?

What was Bohemian Rhapsody really about?

Thanks for reading. This has been Tonespoker. Goodnight.

What samplesize of hands are we talking? That's gonna be the most important aspect to wheter we can even talk about longterm profit here. Especially for PLO you'll need a bigger sample. You can get lots of good content on the net, no need to buy books (I for example haven't read a single poker book in my life, all studied through online articles/videos and self-study (using tools), as well as coaching from good players at the beginning. Some months ago I have reviewed a whole session of a friend of mine for $15 (it was about 1000 hands in total) as a written review, every hand I would have done anything different I would give him hand # and appropiate range for a specific hand. He was just breakeven at $1.50s before and went to 8% ROI afterwards. However, since you play cash I wouldn't feel obligated to take anything for it and I feel yout85 for examle would suit better to give cashgame teachings. If you want advice for SNGs or tourneys I can definitely do that, similar to what I did for my friend, via skype or whatever way suits best. I think to be honest that a much bigger hourly is possible playing SNGs (if we assume a BR of $100 for example you can either play NL2or $1.50 SNGs - a good player who can play enough tables will make more at the $1.50 SNGs than at NL2 over the same time-investment). I also think that based on your questions you worry about irrelevant stuff. Like the rakeback thing for example. You shouldn't worry about rakeback. At the micros rakeback should translate only to a small minorty of your total profit, otherwise one is indeed wasting his time IMO.

Probably 2 tabling 6 max deep ante tables for an hour, or 500 hands (whatever comes first). Wouldn't want to take up too much of people's time as I cannot pay for much haha.

I am an SNG player (mix up cash and SNG depending on how I'm feeling, but predominately large SNG fields I prefer, although I do not have much experience short tables and would like to experiment).

Thanks for betting back to me BeMy, I will definately get back to you on the matter. Won't be doing anything major until Thursday Australian time (not too sure how that translates to German), but will let you know when I am prepared to put in the session.

Thanks!

Alrighty, for yout, I'll play 500 hands of deep 1c/2c.

And for BeMy, a mixture of 9-90 SnG's, buy in and quantity solely depending on ROI for the session.

We can discuss further details at a later date, but does that sound good for both of you?
