Cash games : tables with many waiting players  0
hello
in cash games , you see tables with 17 players or more waiting while other table are open and have seats
i know that mean that there are some kind of a fish sitting there
i usually just sit and play , is it really worth it to keep waiting for a chance to play the fish ?
any member here do this ?

That's funny. I always seems to be seated at those tables with huge waiting lists. But there never are any fish. .. Big Smile

Hi, everybody.

Each player at a game table has tactics to which he adheres. One adheres to tactics fascinatingly to spend time, other player earns on the existence, the third in general in drunk waste decided to stretch cards.

All of good luck at tables and in life.

Dollar Dollar Dollar Worship Dollar Dollar Dollar

On a more serious note - there are softwares you can get that recommend tables based on passiveness, high limping %, high % of fold to 3-bets etc....

If 50 people online at the same time are all using these kinds of software, they will all be recommended to sit at the same table... but then obviously the table dynamic will change very quickly and a table identified as being fishy, will become shark infested in a matter of minutes.

Be careful of software like table selector for example - while the information they give is correct and potentially useful, you have to know how to use it to your advantage.

It highly depends on the stake you play. The higher you play, the worse the reg/fish ratio is and the more you have to table select. In SNGs the same applied. You should never play games with more than 60-70% regs (and that includs you), unless the regs are weak so that you can still get good edge through them. So many SNG regs dont table select at all, but starting from $7s onwards it becomes important. For cash players it should be mandatory IMO.

That must be it! Thumbs Up

About selecting tables; it's good to target specific players, you've found having leaks, since this increases your winrate a lot. So yes, I look for players I did well against (but mostly won't waitlist for them).

As a general rule, I go for tables where the bigger stacks are to my right, especially if they are loose. Also don't sit with sharks on your left. That's where the nits, and multi tablers should be, so you can steal from them.

Yes.. If I play below nl200, I never worry that much about who's at my table.. But when I used to reg nl200 and sometimes nl400 at PKR, I knew who the solid winning players were and I knew it wasn't profitable to sit at a table with ONLY those guys.. If the stakes are big enough, then the people who're at the table generally define your profitability.. Below nl200 I found that there were NO regs who were that solid that they didn't have at least one easily exploitable flaw.. and whilst some huge, spewy fish could still come along and make the table a LOT better, there was never a table at those stakes (50c/$1) that I wouldn't sit at because it was all regs..

Dunno about other sites, but on PKR, due to the traffic and some other factors, the GOOD winning reg's started at nl200+, there was a group of players who'd hang around anything nl200+ and it really really really wasn't worth playing a game if they were the only ones home. In that situation, I would easily join a waiting list of 10 vs an open table full of sharks.. So yeah.. it matters, but only if the stakes matter.

People talking about 'fish' when they're playing micro stakes like 10c/25c or whatever.. just doesn't make much sense, sure - there are winning players at those stakes, but they all have a fucking shopping list full of ways to exploit them, so never a big deal to worry who's at the table.

Now days, I can just about count on one hand how many times I play each year, it's tricky - I can sit now and I still remember the old-guard, but I don't know who the GOOD new players are.. Sometimes I see someone playing aggro and I don't know their name and I assume a fish, so I sit them, only to discover later they're some fresh blood, with a solid, aggressive winning style.

For those who can stomach the read (I Strongly suggest you do), this is interesting to this thread

Tikay10 is the resident site pro and a lot of posters are high stakes guys.

It opened my eyes up a lot (I was shocked to be honest)

I just read your link Ice and as you did I found it quite shocking but very believable. To be honest it was a lot of information and I am still not sure I understand it all.
I try and watch 861 whenever I can and I was surprised that Tikay was surprised! He has been around for quite a while and I would have thought he would know about this.
Maybe this explains the recent Dan Colman interview. Smile

It was a good read and to be honest not suprising people play like that. Hey IceQueen have you heard of poker software like TableNinja? it is approved software by Pokerstars and others. Well that software is a pre programed software that allows you to play countless tables at once, one feature is it will automatically put your timer on if you didn't play that hand straight away.

here is a video of the software TableNinja i was talking about

Thanks I will have a look. I tend not to use software, I know I should. I fixed a pretty big leak using my pokertracker. The problem is, I play over 20 sites actively and usually have 4 or 5 open at any one time, so it slows my computer right down and I don't get the volume needed on each site.
That and I don't know how to use it properly Tongue

Klash, do you have a sky account and use the forums there?

I do have a sky account but haven't played there for a long time,if 6 max was my preference I would definitely play there though as I think the tournaments are good value for the better players. Also with the TV channel and the community it is a good place to learn so I sometimes look at the forum.

I think most people learned to play on the table that are more profitable and that is why you will see more people waiting on the list to the table who has the biggest pot and so on, just check it now, login your poker stars account and see the big pot tables always attract a long waiting list, but it can be misleading the fish who might had just all in might have busted and is no more and you will get a table full of nitty players waiting for good cards!

Probably you are right. Besides the players that i might have notes,
i also check to see the average pot and after that if there isnt an available seat
i just line up for one, even if there are tables that i can join Smile
