Most likely not.
Most likely both players are regulars who are deep in a longer session and have built that stack over their whole session.
It kinda depends on the site. If this would happen on pokerstars for example then if any of these 2 would be a fish, the table would for sure not be that empty, instead it'd have a waiting list of 10 people.
If the site has player search, try and search both players. If one of them is playing just one table, chances are he is a recreational, however I doubt that will happen.

It is on the new site Duck Poker and there is only one active table on this stakes.
Thanks for your answer. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

As a former profitable cash player (abandoned cash for SnG since I lost interest in cash games) I can say that I would NEVER join a table like that. Sure, it might just plain luck that has gotten them those stacks, but odds are they are both regs that know what they're doing.

Well, every player is different. Duck poker doesn't have that many regs and most of them are from here... But if you want to play ring games to clear points, I think you should probably play at lower stakes. Because most likely the players that have been able to make a 100$+ bankroll out of nothing are probably better than the average.

OK but how are you making over 100 points in in lower stakes Question Question Question Question Question
Or where are you making points beside cash game. Question Question Question Question Question

I'd steer clear of it. On a site the size of duck this has a slight whiff of collusion.

I'd just enter the lowest possible and sit down at as many tables as possible (not sure how many that is at duck) and if you don't reach 5 tables, then just move on up to the next level and sit down at the number of tables needed to make 5. However, if you don't get 5 tables from those two levels, stick with what you've got. Do not(!!!) enter the level above that, it's to big of a difference in stakes so you wouldn't be able to play your A-game.

You're certainly right about that!

I play 6-max NL4, so I wouldn't. Maybe it's just me, but that being said, the equivalent on my level, is something I look for. I love tables with a big stack to my right. As you know the money flows from right to left, so it's always a good thing to sit downstream from it.

Often they are over confident, just having had a great run against some less fortunate players, and don't care as much about calling/pushing light, since now they can afford it.
It's only a few double ups and you can have their entire stack.

It's only when the statistics suggest I've done badly against them, I steer clear.

Oh if that's the case I'd join it.
If there is no traffic on the site then you can't really afford to table select.
What I do if I happen to play on a small site, like on pokerminds I did for a short time, always keep names in mind that multitable/are at the various tables. Those are the regs and usually the better players of the site. If someone just single tables and you don't know the guy, don't hesitate to play him if you feel confident. If you feel he has an edge on you make a note and leave the table.
Small sites IMO are perfect to tableselect. On stars for example you will have trouble marking all regulars at your specific stake, and people switch games/formats from time to time as well.
However, at duckpoker for example there are the regulars and there are the (usually) weaker players and you can easily decide if the game is worth joining or not Smile

On the former occasion instead of marking up and down every reg whom I could crash into I'm only marking the ones how can beat me alright, every night without question. Nevermind that its still a lot (I mean a lot) of names, but I just cant get up on the idea to make "post-its" about half of Ukraine and Russia. I just make notes on the ones how could take me out in a "brawl"...
Fairly satisfied with the method.

I'd still mark all regs, no matter if you believe you have an edge on them or not.
Reason is, don't forget a reg is always taking up the seat of a fish.
Thus, even a game full of regs where you have a small edge on all of them might not be as profitable for you as a game with several good regs and one extremely big fish.

If the game is holdem i wouldnt join. In case it is omaha h/l pot limit
I would check the average pot and if i have any notes for some of the players and then decide.
But even so, my decision would have been tilted more to no Smile

I guess it is better to stay away from those players. But thepProblem at Duck is, that there are rarely tables going at all. So one can't be to picky there. Table selection usualy is: there is a table, or there is no table.

I would definitely not take a seat there. But it depends on which kind of player you are. I am sure there are poker players who would love this, especially when finding out that the big stacks are loose or bad players.

That's been my experience too on small sites. Even at 888 I take a look at where the players are from and I see how I feel. Sometimes two countrymen always seem to be on the same tables together, and if I have the slightest hesitation I listen to my instinct and sit at another table.

On the subject of regs, at a full ring table, I am willing to sit down at the table as long as there are not more than two regs. When I see a table full of regs I prefer to drop down as many levels of BI as necessary until I find a table I feel I can make money at. Better to kill at NL20 than stagnate or get chipped away at the NL100 level.
