It's always nice to see famous (and wealthy) poker players taking part in tournaments with small buy-ins... and it's even more fantastic to see them come out victorious at the end of it all! On Monday morning, Phil Hellmuth had overcome a field of 254 entries to win a $1,000 buy-in tournament in Pittsburgh! Good to see that Phil Hellmuth is still winning tournaments. It seems like quite a small tournament compared to some of the ones that he has won but I suppose if you are there for the TV cash game you may as well play as much as you can.
It would be interesting to watch the cash game,we don't get to see much TV poker in the UK so hopefully Poker night in America will be available on the internet at some point.

Gogo Hellmuth this is one of my favorite players and sincerely hope he does well in tournaments though his cokckniess can make him unpredictable and he does some crazy stuff out of the norms and that is why i like him! You got to see some of his meltdowns on youtube it is fun to watch and you can have a good laugh and all. Cheers!

Anyway playing and posting on BRM on a freeroll right now so hope me luck and maybe i'll get back my roll!

Small buy in tourney => $1000. Confused

I don't even want to know what the amount of money is necessary for a big buy in tourney.
If one looks at the result, there is no luck involved in small buy in tourneys. Blink

Congratulations Phil. Not only that he is a pretty decent poker player I really like that guy, although sometimes it is a little bit to much show. But there is one thing you can not say about Phil Helmuth: that he is boring!!

254 entries, half a million (sort of) in the prizepool (though a bit weird distribution percentage 1st place: 55k, 2nd: 40k, 3rd: 20 - I just truly can't understand how they calculated this) yet this tourey screams of desperation. Pittsburgh is very far from being the desired destination of gamblers from the East-Coast but at least they made The Brat happy...

I glad your not calculating it, 254 x $1000= $254,000 which would be 1/4 ( one quarter ) of a million

the top 3 you shoul is about 45% of the pot. Hence i think the did it correct

Guess what Goldeneye, next time concentrate on what I wrote in the post rather than what you see into my post.
The detailed distribution percentage is this - 1st place: 22% 2nd: 16% 3rd: 8%. Should be 25-15-10.
If this isn't weird 4 you than all the better.

Half a mill was a mistype.

Why should we hate him? Confused

Nothing funnier at a pokertable than Hellmuth going ballistic after a player beats him with a play, that he himself would not have made in that situation. Priceless.
