Poker Luck  0
Anyway Guys Ima let u know ive had horrible luck with online poker ive played for at least 4 years and made only one cashout of 15 bucks . im down about 3.5k on stars alltogher and only won a tourny a while back and never got to cash my winnings .. ive currently tryed switching sites to an ipoker site like netbet and betfair, they are great but stil i won like 100 and dont cashout ended up at 0 total mess but they give a nice 200% bonus for deposit but trying to build the points to cash out in them is really difficult for me as i tend to play bad bankroll management. But i like there software twister poker is nice almost like stars spin and gos which are good, but stars have the million doller 5 game but llooks like u always hit a ten on those and i never won a 5 one out of 5 trys so far so i think ima stop at those here . anyways thanks for reading give me a response or comment thanks good bye.

It's good that you tell this story, because usually you only get the success stories on forums like these. It stands to reason though that the vast majority of players have a similar story to yours (look at the amount of money that is raked, this has to come from somewhere).
Do you enjoy playing, and if so, is it worth the investment? Or are you chasing losses?

Either way, it will be hard to make up for 3.5k of losses. First you must find your leaks and fix them, and then you will have to grind for years before breaking even. You could of course win a big tourney, but that is no strategy; chasing that, will most likely get you in more trouble.

The only viable option IMO is improve yourself, until you find a game where you have an edge, and slowly grind your way up. It's no use playing games where you are out of your depth (i.e. outside your bankroll or skill level), because the expected value will be negative.

I wish you well, and hope you'll recover!

I completely agree with marqis it seems that you are going for the big win which maybe happend once in a life time. Maybe some good poker books would help you. But first you will have to learn you bankroll management. Start small and grow with time.

I also wish you the best. Worship Worship Worship

If you really down with 3.5k then I don't think switching networks going to help you at all. You really should stop chasing losses and start over from scratch.
Including learning again how to play effective ABC, how to make your bankroll management tighter, how to manage HUDs properly and if you an MTT or SNG guy then definitely ICM...

I am not saying that any of the above things will make you a winning player suddenly overnight, but some self-discipline could never hurt anybody.

You are all in the right area yea i do need bankroll management and like one said the rake is the hard part .. there is one thing u are messing what about fees for certain deposits and also think about the currency coversions both take chunks which add up big time mabey i shouldnt switch site either .
and i know winning these big tables are a long shot but why play so low and cash so little and play for hours for no big increase in bankroll its like it dont make any scence for example if u deposit like 50 why not play one game for like 20 or 50 and win big or go home then play a bunch of micros win in those and barely increase ur br and lose proble 90 percernt of those games where then they take there rake and you get almost nothing ..

Thanks anyways guys@ hope more ppl see this and hit there keyboard with a post and tell me its not only me cause for one youtube search magic612 hes a funny guy what he says

Poker is about in my case 40% luck and 60% skill.....If I apply myself I can win some tournaments, still waiting to pull off a larger buyin and win one however its not that hard if you can manage a bankroll and play smart and know to quit when your tilting.

Spin and goes are rigged however I am ahead of the game on them, I lose most of my money on the cash tables.

I had a 9 dollar bankroll yesterday, played a couple knockout tournaments and finished 4th, then played another good one today and placed 3rd so I am up to about 50 dollars. I know I am bound to lose some of it however if you can control your swings you wouldn't be out so much money. I have about 1200 in winnings this year, and a 50 dollar bankroll....

Every year I play I seem to improve, last year I dont think I broke 600 in winnings, this year I doubled it....next year Id like to break 5000 and hope to improve my ROI. I am not a great player but I am not a terrible player....just be patient and play smart man, it will turn around if you play right eventually!

You say poker luck but poke ain't all about luck , ofcourse you need some but you need a lot of skill aswell and making a depo of $50 and then insta play a 50$ tournament makes no sense imo. if you want to win big you can also play a $3 $5 or maybe even $11 , or try doing steps Sng with those you can win a 27$ ticket for like 7.50 or 8 bucks.

I would say you should look at your game objectively and try to make some changes to fix some leaks. Try to think long term when you make a play, because that's what poker is all about. Of course you can adapt to every situation/table, but you should try to stay close to ABC poker. Try making changes in your game, like raising smaller pre flop, taking control of pots, c-betting more, knowing when to shut down etc. Obviously we can't tell you what your leaks are precisely because we don't know how you play Smile

But yeah, bad luck can be brutal Blink But good thing is everyone has upswings also!

Just keep working on your game. We can always improve. 4 years ago when I was a young woopersnapper at 22 years old I really thought I was a good player (which i wasn't that great). I would win here and there but was mostly a break even player at best. I've been making decent money lately in live games and am better player now than 4 years ago by far. I've evolved my game and kept studying and learning and have dedicated myself into studying the game and loving it as much as playing poker.

You may have lost that money but #1 work on your bankroll management. That is one thing I had a tough time doing because I would get impatient and want to FULL BANKROLL on the .50/1 or 1/2 tables lol. Bad idea. it seems like everytime I full bankrolled I would end up getting rivered all in or hit a cooler. Never put all ur eggs in one basket. Someone said holdem may not be for you? maybe? maybe not. You can always get better, keep learning and studying the game and you might surprise yourself how well you do in the future

Hey man that's cool however the stakes I play I still believe its luck, I am an aggressive player when I have some strong cards and where the luck comes from is the calling station donks that call anything hoping for that magic card. I seem to be on the losing end of alot of these, I do not shove unless I believe I have the best hand and most normal players would fold in these situations...

I know the higher stakes you play the donks seem to be more minimal so skill does play a role more than luck....this is just my personal opinon.

I do the same ago... I belived that luck has massive effect because a LOT of time, even now it happends that I showe and got call when I am dominating, and other player get that card... But what is realy happening is just percents because you dont count when you win your showe when you r dominating, but only you see when you lose... and thats just gambling when you showe on flop/preflop...even when you are dominating there is percents that you will not win... like I watched some ept I cant remember which one playerA had KK player B had I think AK and flop comes K 10 10... and wuth less than 1 percent he won when ace come out on turn and river... thats an example of bad luck...

Skilled poker players and chess masters share a lot of traits. Concentration, patience, planning, anticipation of the moves and adaptation to the opponent. Not to mention that both games have an incredibly strong psychological component.
It turns out chess and poker have even deeper roots than you may have guessed, as both are thought to be Persian in origin. The legend has it that mathematician Sissa Nassir invented the game to distract the King from his grief at the loss of his son, who died in battle.

In 30 single table sit and goes in a single session I got up against someone else's AA at least 10 times when I had KK to JJ preflop. Won zero.
Immediately after that f*cking ridiculous streak I withdrew all the money from PokerStars and bought myself $500 headphone. NEVER PLAY ANY POKER EVER AGAIN.

It's 10 of 30 games, you got away pretty well there I must say... not a very big rarety to have 30 SNGs without any cash.

Funny. Thumbs Up I bet that after a huge downswing, the king had the mathematician's head chopped!!!

@OP:

The guys already gave you the right advises.

Having bad luck is obviously a factor that can weight in someone's poker profit/loss, but it should not be an excuse at the long term.

Maybe it's time for you to study some more and rebuild your poker from clear ground, not chasing any other gold than become a better player (if you like the game of poker you will have to be in constant evolution). And have fun while doing it.
