Are you Hungry?Play poker for your meal!!  +1
I have just read an amusing story from the daily mail in England where you can pay for your meal by playing 3 hands of poker. Smile
The restaurant is called All in Kitchen and it appears to be a decent restaurant where the average cost of a meal is around £50/$76 but after you have eaten instead of whipping out your wallet you start to shuffle the cards,I'll quote what happens next from the story......
"By playing three hands of poker, a diner will determine how much they will pay for the dinner they just ingested. After three hands if a player has built their stack to more than 10,000 chips, the dinner will be on the house. If the player still has a stack between 5000 and 10,000 chips after the three hands of play, then the meal will cost a fraction of its usual cost, £5. If the player is under 5000 after those three hands of play, they will have to pay £10, still a bargain compared to its original cost (here’s hoping that the wait staff isn’t well-versed in poker)"

Interesting read at that point but then further into the story I read this......"so who are the masterminds behind this short-lived restaurant? Jones & Sons joined forces with the marketing geniuses at PokerStars, who were looking for an innovative way to promote their tournament schedule for the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) stop in London that begins on Tuesday"
Is there anything that Pokerstars do not do? Smile

Thanks Heskor. Smile ......... I spend a lot of time "working" on my laptop and I just stumbled across a few lines about this on a different poker site but I don't think we can link these types of sites on here......luckily there aren't many stories about restaurants where you can play poker for your food so easy to find the full story. Smile

I would never eat in a place where they would gamble on their prices. It's either screws with the income and the tips of the staff or just make their expenses being in jeopardy. No way a good business model, and frankly restaurants with cheap gimmicks like these not really keen on serving good food and provide good experience rather just laundering money for the owner.

Nice promotion. Robert Heinlin had a store in one of his books when after you buyif you want you can throw the dice for a double-or-nothing gamble. I wonder if such a place existed, how many would take that offer and how many would pay the initial price. It's a true way to check if your'e a risk taker or not

Playing three hands of poker to pay for my meal? That sounds pretty good to me. But I guess they have to do that, because no one would visit them with prizes of around £50/$76 for one meal without having that promotion.

Great innovative idea. If it's short lived then everyone is a winner. And it appears that on this occasion there could be loads of winners and if you lose its not toe xpnesive and you get a poker game as well as dinner! Great story coverage.
