For the most part i gave up on bluffing unless it feels right. I had a helllllllll of a bad poker day. Have been playing 1.50$ 6max hypers for the last week, staying between 60-90$ with small up and downswings but today managed to drop about 40buyins. Just couldnt get it goin. All my good hands getting sucked out on,missing draws, bluffing in wrong spot has been brutal. Tomorrow is a new day and hoping that was just a variance assss whooping and things turn around.

I bluff a lot... but you must to knw how to bluff... If you are on position, and oponent check the flop, I bet in 90% of thee time... if he calls, and check again, I will fire second barrel if I see him calling with nothing before... so if i fire second barrel and he calls again and check the river that is time to figure it out if he has something strong or I can fire the third barrel... But in 95% when they check out of position they have nothing, so you must bet... Also when I see someone who is raising preflop a lot, and I am out of position, I would raise after flop, and see if he calls or not.... Before I didnt bluff so much, but in last half year I do, and I think its a big part of poker... Also you must almoust never overbet bluff... Only if you are playing against tight player that have something and you know he will not call big bet Blink

Hmm maybe he had read on you that you bluff or he sees that at late position you more likely to get a whole range of hand and if you re raised you would have good cards and that flop seems to miss your perceive range that is why when you bet he called.

Also another way to look at it from another way, he could have saw that you most likely did not have the 8 and you bet on small cards which his 77 beats that is why he never fold, he must have a huge hero complex !

Bluff is a very bad strategy. If you has nothing, it is simple useless. If you have high cards after the flop try to call with 3BB, (this is the only bluff which is OK). If the opponent give the money or raise you need to fold! Bluff is not good choice.
And in your described situation, the bluff simply was bad choice, because if he had only one!!! pair, he can beat you.

that is unlucky
he knew you don't have an 8 and no card above 7 came on the turn or the river
if only the river was a king or jack your bluff would have worked

it was obvious you had AK/AQ or Big Pair since you showed strength pre-flop
i guess he didn't put you on a big pair like QQ or something
he put you on AK

i bluff too and sometimes this happens me , i regret it more than making a bad call because i made the villain feel proud and professional for catching my bluff Big Smile

Well man my advice to you is extremely simple: DO NOT TRY TO BLUFF! It is OK that you are making a continuation bet on the flop (especially with that kind of flop), but if he keeps on calling, why go further ahead.

I read an article by someone somewhere pointing out that it's not always an optimal move to bluff a total monkey/donkey/calling station, etc.
But I'd assume bluffing (not too much preferably) might eventually pay one off by intentionally/continuously balancing one's betting pattern/amount/value range, and so on, versus a certain type of player(s) who fu*cking rarely finds a fu*cking fold in any goddamn fu*cking situation.

That was a bad bluff. You made a reraise preflop,so your opponent think u got AK or a ace.I think i had call too in this situation with 77.On the other site you can only bluff a good player,a bad player will always call with any cards,so never bluff a donky

I think too that is a bad bluff when u call u 2 time u must to stop blufing,he obviosly had something. When u bluf u do to tight players, blufing is ok when u know to do that.

I guess (and hope) that is irony you are using when saying, that MAYBE it is a bad idea to bluff a loose player. But some people may not recognize it, so I would like to emphasize that this is always the worst spot to make a bluff.
