2015 WSOP: Main Event's $10 Million First-Place Prize To Be Removed

On Tuesday, it was announced on World Series of Poker's website that the Main Event's $10,000,000 guarantee, which was introduced in 2014, will be removed. The main reason for this change is that the steep payout structure of last year's Main Event received a lot of critisim from the poker community. pochui approves this idea.

mainly because pochui is a very sh1tty poker player and if he ever finishes in the money, usually somewhere around the lowest paid places... so this change makes wsop main event a more likely tournament for pochui to enter and cash.

I don't think whether the first prize of 10 million or 8 million is going to be the incentive to play but playing in this tournament and competing against the worlds best poker players is a dream for many players.Making the prize pool for the top 1000 players seems like a good idea.

Its not a big change ok 2mil is a lot of money but if the lower prize are increased it does not make the tournament unattractive.

And i am sure that it wont change the number of entrance the good players will always love to enter this tournament not only for the noney but also to the pride of making ITM and of course winning the bracelet coming with the first place. Worship Worship Worship

I think that this is a really good idea and they should be applauded for listening to the players. The players have to play for days before they even reach the bubble and deserve a bit more money for doing so

I guess this reformulation can call even more players to go ahead and try this event too, besides going for the others. We know we are talking about big amounts of money, but also about people who are rich enough to buy an entry to this event, to loose, and to keep living as if nothing changed financially in theirs lives. The only thing that is really changing is the carisma the this event might already have. And that is only something the one's already played it before can really feel. So, in fact, it's no big change after all. Prizes will be big enough in the same.

Big toureys IMO should always have top heavy payout structures - and this game is not there to make a couple hundred people happy with 5k return of their initial 10k buyin, it's unnecessary and anybody who had 10k for his entry then felt the need to cry about which spot ITM should've started is just the worst kind of penny pincher I could ever think of.

Totaly agree with you... I think they should left 10M for first place... Evryone who have 10k$ to play on this tournament wouldnt be happy with 5k$ more on his account Thumbs Up
