Someone at one point must have thought, "you know what, we'll spread the prize pool over all printed tickets, sold or unsold, and we'll pocket the prizes for the unsold tickets". Who are these people thinking this is okay, and why are they not personally accountable?

We have a lottery here called 6/49 you pick 6 numbers out of 46 and you have your ticket validated by a computer of lotto seller. You have nearly 14millions combinations possible so sure the big prize is not win every week and then its make the next draw witha bigger prize until there is a winner.
We also have ticket sold draw and the draw is made with all ticket sold or unsold however if there are winnings prize in the unsold tickets then thes prize will be add on to another lottery like 6/49.
Like the 6/49 winners have one year to claim their prizes there are some unclaimed prizes again which are addon to another draw.

...Mmmmmm... Curious....!
I saw a thread entitled 'rigged', and I just couldn't see marqis and 'rigged' in the same place,... But alas,...he's calling out the Feds....
We in Canada have a certain fondness for our Dutch friends,...so this is QUITE disheartening news considering it just wasn't a few rogue emplyees,...but rather a scheme built right INTO the system....
Tisk Tisk....
...Hey,....there's that guy with a d**k for a head....! <lol...
...reminds me of THIS...:

Here the lotery are run by an independent company and the draw are supervised by an exterior large accounting company. I think it would be very hard to rigged.
For sure all the profit made by the company organizing all loto and casino are going to the governement.

Having read the very brief newspaper article, and not the judgment of the proceedings, so the information on the whole may be a little more involved, but on the face of it..... Is anyone surprised?
Imagine if amongst the people who bought tickets, not one person chose the number 33. (The odds are high, but with probability, anything is possible). Would you expect them to withdraw the number 33 from the numbers to be selected from?

Give it some thought!
I was surprised actually. This lottery had a good reputation, on having the best payout ratio. Apparently in 2000 they decided to change things, without telling anyone.
And yes it's criminal in my opinion. What is to stop them just printing twice as many tickets, without intending to sell them, thereby pocketing half the prize money. Or why stop there; print 4 times the tickets and pocket 75% of prize money.
Edit: In fact they effectively just paid 30% of the promised prize money...

Man this must have been quite a scandel in the Netherlands. I would not have expected something like that in a state lottery. If you played monthly forn over 20 years do you know how much money you put in there?

25 years * 12 months * 15 EUR = 4500 EUR
I'm not sure how much I won, but not a lot, maybe 10%?
I knew before starting, that it's just money down the drain, and I'm perfectly fine with that, for the chance to win big. What I'm not fine about, is that they apparently have been charging 70% rake (although admittedly rake has only become a concern of mine since starting to play poker)...
It's probably even far worse than 70%, since that is only the percentage of the prize money they "steal", and I imagine that prize money is less than the sum of the tickets sold...
Maybe I should stake myself instead, by buying into $20 buyin games once a month, which I would not normally play...

The lottery in the UK has recently doubled in price from £1 to £2 and at the same time they changed the way the prizepool was distributed,it was supposed to be fairer but it doesn't look like that to me.......one week 3 numbers won £25 and 4 numbers won £28.

Lottery tickets... We have a couple here also of course. The slogan in one of them is : three out of four win. All these years i was playing the specific ticket, i was always the fourth one so i stopped playing. Turned into betting, where i get a profit, and i can actually see if i won or not, in terms of rigged or not
