Poor play? Or burned by a fish?  0
First post to this forum, but I have a question that I can't find an answer to lol...

So... Fairly early into a sng, everyone's stack is even-ish. We're about three hands in, I'm on the button.

I'm dealt AKo.

Girl to my right and guy to my left have paid to see every single flop so far, so I have them pegged as loose/passive. Great.

Everybody but those two folded after I raised big (expecting calls).

Flop: AK7

Sb checks
My right checks
I bet just under half the pot, hoping to get called.
Sb folds
My right calls.

Turn: 7
She immediately pushes all in.

I can't imagine she called me with a pair of 7's after the flop, but I go ahead and fold.

Was I correct to fold that?
Could I have played differently?

Thanks!
Matt

I think it's a good fold, because it's a beginning.

But if it was me, I probably would call, because I think it's a bluff.

If she had a trips(or A7, or whatever strong), why would she push all-in? She was scared, maybe.. I don't know.

If it's a cheap tourney, I would call.

Welcome to BRM hope you will have great time here... What you are saying that utg+5 is a lose player and he calls to see evry flop... and he called your big raise preflop, and after flop... I wouldnt put him on 7, he probably had AJ,AQor something like that... I would put about 85% that he have AJ,AQ than maybe he called you with A7 or even he was strong and hit set of aces or kings, which is so unlikely... You should be profitable in this situation a lot of time....

Its very hard ti answer you cause you did not mentionned if there was card for a flush draw, if yes there are some peoples that would shoved on a draw.

Another think your small bet on the flop tis is somethink that i really dont like giving a chance of a cheap card you never know. I always bet ay least the pot if its high or more if its small.

However with the info we have i think it was a good fold.

By the way welcome to the forum and wish we will see you here often. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I think that the fold was allright, if the pot was not that big already, although I might have called against a loose player who might go all in with AJ on AQ as well in such a situation. You can not play very differently only to maybe bet a bit higher on the flop.

Three hands into an SNG and you pegged them already? Next time just call, if you get beaten by trip 7's then theres a lesson for you but don't fold top two pairs just because somebody trying to bluff you out from the pot...

How big was it?

I bet just under half the pot, hoping to get called.

Whales/calling stations surely will call that bet.

Was there a made flush, or a flush draw on turn?

I guess you are right in most cases. Especially at the beginning of a tournament there are still enouch loose player who try to bluff. But I would quickly have a look at the hand history. If it is the first hand from him he might have it. I have experienced it myself a few times.

I think i would have make the call right away.

Better out right awaythen after a an hour.

You have two pair and if he/she hit trips it's to bad.

Greatings jakobusss

i think good lay down. if you where didnt felt comfortable better to lay down. Fish always wants to get maximum immidately,so they often go all instead of getting value of it.

OK the country of origin really should not matter here, but I tatally agree with your evaluation of the hand. The laydown is a good thing, because you do not have to risk your whole tournament at the beginning. There will come better situations later on.
