888 say no to takeover bid  0
This story telling how 888 had rejected a takeover bid from William Hill appeared in the UK news a few days ago and as far as I know no mention on this site so I'll put it for anyone interested.
If you want more info here is a link.

888 has been the subject of takeover approaches several times before. It held talks with Ladbrokes in 2011 about a possible bid that would have valued the Israeli business at around £150m. That followed another aborted approach by Ladbrokes in 2006.
They are a tough bride to be 4 sure. If WH's bid falls through next time they are going to buy up some smaller UK site IMO.

So! Tax changes in UK make off shore low tax based 'smaller' companies 'ripe' for picking? This could be the first of many similar kinds of moves for high street companies to expand by buying up already established poker sites to make themselves even more money and improve the game experience at the same time! Watch this space!

The guy from 888 should better care about their software more. Today I was having disconnects every 20 seconds or better said I was disconnected all along and only got a connection from time to time. For me it was impossible to play.

I have noticed that there are quite a few casinos that won't accept UK players since the change in tax laws but the UK based bookies seem to be doing very well. The trend recently in all business seems to be bigger firms undercut the competition until only a few survive and then they can fleece us at will. Smile

And once again the same technical problems today, at least from 13 to 18 o clock. Afterwords it was better, but this is really a shame for teh 888 site. The support told me that only Germany is affected by that.

b365 made some moves to make sure they don't loose marketshares with these new changes implemented in the UK, they had new T&C and different operating base for the people outside UK yet they are on the same website after all. Even in poker.

If anyone is playing on 88 poker from here and still has some 5.000 lucky star or 500 Starburst or all-in-gift tickets left then he should better use them quickly. The all ins are ending today and the other two will end on saturday the 28th of February.
