Apologized for winning?  0
Hello all

Just wanted to throw this out there, has anyone ever, after knocking someone out of a tournament, particularly after a very bad beat in their favor, apologized for winning?

Personally I don´t do that but I also don´t rub it in someone´s face when this happens

Well sometimes with other mobsters at the table a regular comment can happen but I rarely use the chat

Don´t forget to be happy and enjoy life

It doesn't happen too often, but I came across it a couple of times and I was confused Smile

Usually they apologize when you had a very good hand and was beaten because you couldn't fold it. (e.g. full house vs quads) and they feel sorry for you.

I think It's a good demeanor.

For what i understood of you post, that player kick you out of the tournament with a bad beat, so for him maybe he saw that hand has hard to see for you, and you get out, so he apeal the side of him by compassion for get you out and don´t see you progress more and more in the tournament, maybe like he wish, but some times you can get a GoodGame for the hand, or a sorry for a elimination of a hit that the opponent getted, for what i understood, and for what i see in the tables, is not strange that, is that maybe a diversity that is in the poker or any kind of sport or life.

Just keep playing and enjoy life.

I only did it once... I dont do that, because I think its not right to apologize for losing player, and he may be offended... But in this case I realy mean it... It was cash game, and we both hit set, which ended to full house for both on river, but my set in bigining was stronger, and I know how much hard was it for me couple of times when I hit lower set on flop, and got sucked out... So I apologized and said it was bad luck, in way that wasnt sarcastic.... That was only once, and I shouldnt do that one time, but it happend....

I'm sorry sometimes when I win with a worse hand on the river, for example ...
In general chat very often found inadequate people who after losing to write all sorts of bad words and insults ... I guess these are people who are just starting to play poker, and any loss is seen as a tragedy of universal scale.

It is an interesting concept! More interesting it is a concept that many people these days find difficult (or unnecessary) to use. It's called politeness! When something fortunate happens in favour of one person as opposed to another, it is generally considered customary to apologise for ones own good fortune. Many people are no longer polite!

never apologize
because when someone gets lucky against me they usually starting writing hateful comments
so i decided never to get involved in chat ( winning or losing )
and i feel much better now
it is poker , they have to accept that
there is no need to say sorry

No i have never done that. I dont see why for. I am playing to win the hand, game or whatever,
and i will feel sorry that i won by knocking someone else out ? That is the whole purpose, if i want to win Smile I see othesr doing it often though, but i bet many of them dont mean it Smile

Haha yeah i would not rub it in their face either , because i is not fun but if he has pissed me off in some way or another specially in live tournaments i would make a point to mock him at least for a few seconds just to satisfy my ego lol, but online i would not know them so most likely will not do anything and just let it slide. Anyway peace out guys have fun at the tables and make some money and do not rub it in people face, not cool!! Except if they deserve it!

With or without malicious intent, virtually nothing could alter the outcome of the game in certain situations. What difference does it really make by apologizing anyway?
For what? To save your own ass? So transparent!

I never chat anything these days or take much notice of anything anyone else is saying. If I know who I am playing against then I might say unlucky but we're never really truly sorry are we???? Smile

For some people maybe be a disconnection or break the ice to start chating, and maybe do this like pochui said, and maybe get help from some one on the table to win, and do a head up, and there is one on one game, and the better win, for some players perhaps can be a good thing, for others is anoying, and close the chat, even if win or lose, or make a good move, or a bad move, and its this that give a poker the excitement of playing.
And for say in poker says in every thing in life.

Enjoy sun and life, and keep playing.

I never apologize for winning a hand, It would be insincere. Of course I'm not sorry I wanted to win.

Instead I just say "unlucky".

Even unlucky is a big tease. You are losing the hand and you have someone saying to you
unlucky... And if your cards are better than the other player is holding, then it just drives you
mad. Im not responding though lol and try to let it go.
