Want to hear a crazy quick story?   0
So I was raised by a single mother, Amazing woman who had to be both mom & dad for a crazy young boy. never meeting my father in my life time i never thought about it until yesterday.

My aunt who was travelling back to our home in Holywood, Northern Ireland (just outside Belfast for anyone who cares) messaged me on Facebook to tell me that she was with her
mom (My Nan) and that she had a picture of the man known to be my Father. Well this really stirred up the emotions that I really didn't know were there at all. She gets back to Canada this morning and messaged me the picture and man do I know where I get a lot of my features from now. I look like my mom, alot but there are alot of similarities between him and myself as well.

Just thought I'd share and use this forum as a bit of a therapy session for the day.

Hi mate.

Is a beautifull story, i could get if you get excited or nervous, but know you probably real dad is a good thing, from now on you maybe can get some view from he side and understand why all this years and apears now, and maybe get a new friend for life, i never hit that position or have story's like that around, but for what i see in news or tv, sometimes is a good thing.

Enjoy his fellowship, and see what happens.

It would be cool to talk with him but it's just a picture and I'm not sure if I want to burden him with that at this point in life. 37 almost 38 years have gone by and he hasn't reached out at all and I'm sure he could have spoken with my Grandmother by now.

We'll see what the future holds and if this sparks some more interest on my part to look him up and just meet the man responsible for my being here.

Crazy life I tell ya.

Must be very strange to see your father for the firs time at 37 years old. I can understand your feeling that you would like to talk to him but never give i sign of life for all these years.

IMO your feeling of waiting for the future is the best way to go and if your desire to see him is getting greater then your decision will be easier.

I wish you besr of luck in this matter. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

i can sympathize with the emotional side of things and the effect it undoubtedly had on you. A mixture of pure uncontrollable emotion and possibly confusion and most certainly a million and one questions came to mind leaving you with not much but left to wonder.

i remember hearing from a friend that she saw my sister brenda the day previous. when i tried to correcr her and tell her i only had a cousin brenda she argued till i ran home to ask my mother about it...i came to find out my mother had died and i was the youngest of 9 children

------------
i was 6 then....im now 41 and it still affects me to this day.

my advice is to take it all one day at a time.take time to breath. keep an open mind and enjoy the ups and downs. these things take time to figure out but happen for a reason.
good luck
