It's always a tricky one when using USD when you are in another country, but there are ways around it as described by Marqis, which appears to be very good advice. I will seek to do this in the next few weeks as I have some need of some cash and don't want to get charged for it.

Hi mate i hope you doing fine and enjoying your stay on pokerstars though looking at the thing you did you lost money due to exchange rate and it is your fault for doing it as you should always have all accounts and the cards or e wallet you use as the same currency, that is dollars only or Euros only, a tip, anyway good luck hope you know now and be careful and check exchange rates before cashing out and all mate, cheers!

yeah certainly lesson learned. not really my fault, I thought the charge was there and they don't advertise the way to get round it for free, so not my fault for not knowing.

That said, I do have 6 all-in shootout tickets and will be winning all 6, so will definetly make sure I don't fall for it again!

I havn't used instadebit in a long time but last time i used it, there was $0.00 in fees and there was no exchange rate fees, so where did you get this information.

We can check with demo he still uses it .

Best way too go is with e check no fees at all with insta debit you get charged with fees for withdraw from insta debit account back too your bank account as i used it before on Party Poker

I have just withdrawn from 2 sites and didn't get charged anything and these are not billion dollar companies either.

If there was a currency conversion involved, I kind of doubt that. As far as I'm aware Pokerstars was the only company that did this for free on deposit/withdrawal, until they changed that a few months ago.
Just check google "74.66 USD to GBP" and you'll see what you should have gotten, without conversion fees (and what you'll get when converting between currencies in the pokerstars cashier, before withdrawing/after depositing).
Most sites charge you without you noticing, and most charge you way more than the 2.5% pokerstars does. Worst of all are the banks, but e-wallets are pretty bad also.

Heskor is right by the way, the best option is to never convert at all, but that's often not practical, because there is always that conversion to your local currency, when you want to use the money.

I use prepaid credit cards....how do u set up instadebit?

...Oh Hey.... Sorry I didn't get back sooner...!

Okay,...so you now have an InstaDebit account...!

This is what you have to do to establish a link between your BANK and InstaDebit...: Make a deposit to say oh,....PokerStars from your bank 'through' InstaDebit... Maybe deposit $10 USD and use code 100K for the free month of 100K Priviledge Freerolls...

...InstaDebit will then go looking in your bank account for the amount in Canadian dollars,...so you better have at least $13 or $14 in there to cover the withdrawel...

Once you do that,...then you are good to go from now on...!

Pinotte's idea about the eCheck is fine as long as all you want is a straight cashout to your bank,....but InstaDebit acts as an ewallety kind of thing to keep your cash in US Dollars for free...

You can then use it to deposit to any poker site that uses InstaDebit...! I'm connected to PokerStars, Full Tilt,...and partypoker...

You can keep a balance in there and deposit and withdraw from ANY of your poker sites for free.....and the ONLY time you ever pay a fee is when you interact your bank...!

from your bank to a poker site costs ONE dollar ($1) + .0275%

from Instadebit TO your bank is TWO dollars + .0275%

Do the math,...is relatively cheap...! ....and VERY convenient.... AND FAST...!!!

Smile
