This is a unbelievably massive field but at quite a low buy in it does give the chance for loads of recreational players to fulfil a dream in playing at a big event in the world series.a great prize pool as well.

Is a huge thing and a massive record, and because the buy.in is a low thing, and like klash23 said above, call for a lot of recreation players that wants to try their shot and maybe win big. Maybe because is a the first time of this tournament, we hope that next year can break another record and more players buy.in into the colossus. This shows that the organization of tournaments around the world is attentive to requests from players and for new ways to innovate.
$565 buy-in is low compared to the WSOP Main Event 10k entry fee but otherwise I do not know many 'recreational' players who willing to spend an iPhone worth of sum to play poker with strangers. It's all relative but six hundred bucks is still 25% of the average pay or 40% of the minimal wage/month in the USA.
