Many congratulations to Jeffrey Tomlinson on winning this event and the first prize of $567,724. Its always nice to see an amateur player winning one of these events and it gives us all hope of winning one

A great win for an amateur player, though he is obviously pretty good to have managed to last 4 days and beat a very good field of some very experienced pro players.

Guess he does not need to coach those ungrateful bastards anymore, right? 500k should be more than enough to get out there and use it a base for a long poker carrier. The fact that he can play many type of games with success I don't see why he could not become a pro/semi-pro after this.

Looking at his Hendon stats he has cashed quite a few times before but always a couple of grand and nothing like this.
Maybe he could go pro but maybe he just loves doing his coaching.

Yeah, but once the story out about this - I think parents won't want their kids teacher to be a gambler. Even a succesfull one. Honestly I have no problem with this, but in the USA many people opposing these activities and if he is teaching in a school with religious ties I can see him let go by the board.
