Players Furious When Slovak Casino Refuses To Cover Advertised Prize Pool

A €300 buy-in tournament was played last weekend at the casino Golden Vegas in Bratislava, Slovakia. It was advertised that a €100,000 prize pool (click on picture to enlarge) would be up for grabs - the biggest tournament in Slovak poker history - and many players decided to re-enter on Day 1B when there still was a great overlay. When registration closed, the advertised prize pool sti[...]   Read more » Players Furious When Slovak Casino Refuses To Cover Advertised Prize Pool

I like the fact that the final table players refused to go on, the prizepool was only 14k down from advertised and I think the casino were very incompetent in not adding to it or even using some initiative- maybe putting some free casino chips or tickets to future events to inflate the prizepool.

Fair play to the players for refusing to play and i applaud them for this decision. The casino must be expecting to lose a lot of business n the back of this and they really should have organised this a lot better

yeah good idea from klash- add the missing cash in form of free casino chips (heck even with some playthrough requirements or some other restrictions), or tickets to future 1mil gtd tournament (which would also have it's prizes paid with future tournament tickets and so on...). bad business here imho, going to hurt casino in long term, probably that 14k was not worth it...

Not that smart from the management of the tourney. News of this decision will fall back on the reputation of that joint, and they will struggle to pull in additional players the next time they stage something.

Haha, so the only thing which they guaranteed at the end is there won't be any guarantee at all. Honestly that missing 14k is not that big of a deal if you think about it, but I guess the players were pissed off beyond controll.

It sounds to me that the poker players only took this action when they had no choice, sometimes businesses seem to think that you are not as important as them, they don't comprehend that without players they have no casino.
I recently bought a pair of trainers from a big sports shop online and get to the checkout and ready to pay and notice they had added a massive coffee mug to my order and charged me 99p Question Why?This was a sports shop not bloody Starbucks.....and why should I be paying for it? Aww crap!

Honestly a one pounder promotional mug is not something which would make you rage, is just an unpleasant surprise like a 'free' toolbar popping up during installation.
These people felt cheated out of their rightfull money, but seeing that the pool was just 14k short I think it was an overreaction...

I would put money on that the moment they realized they are getting short of the promised prizepool panic mode pushed in and they've asked for more security on the floor in anticpation to telling the players santa claus isn't real...
