Since the HoF game was yesterday (Vikings-Steelers 14:3) the NFL preseason is officially opened and four weeks from now we will get to the start of the regular season too. Bettingwise all seasonlong betting markets are available since early July and now we could even wager money on preseason games too so I found it appropriate to open the new thread as of right now.
Tips, analysis, predictions, fantasy football - everything which related to american football and betting could come here!
Preseason Week 01 is going to bring the following matchups:
Saints at Ravens Jets at Lions Packers at Patriots Redskins at Browns Dolphins at Bears Cowboys at Chargers Titans at Falcons Panthers at Bills Giants at Bengals Steelers at Jaguars Rams at Raiders Broncos at Seahawks Buccaneers at Vikings 49ers at Texans Chiefs at Cardinals Colts at Eagles
I make some teams bold - they are the ones I think worthy backing on this occasion. Most spreads are around or within a field goal range - since it's preseason anyway and the starters only going to play a quarter at best - but in light of some team related news I think they are worth a try and some dough... Also avoid betting the O/U lines since it's even less predictable than the initial outcomes of these games.
Hey NFL liking mobsters, don't forget the tenth season of Hard Knocks is already started airing on HBO (first episode could be found on the web if somebody looks for it in the right places) and this year's highlighted team is the Houston Texans.
Well, this Atlanta vs. Tennessee game was really something, right? Mariota proved that those who questioned his NFL readiness (skillset) and those who supported him from the get-go were both right in some ways. Also it looks like that Oakland is going to be decent this year...

Aaand, I just went 5/5 with them. Hope somebody else followed my recommendations at least with small stakes. Maybe going to duplicate this success with the preseason week 02 matchups, tomorrow I'll write about them.
Preseason Week 02 is going to bring the following matchups:
Lions at Redskins Bills at Browns Falcons at Jets Seahawks at Chiefs Dolphins at Panthers Ravens at Eagles Bears at Colts Patriots at Saints Jaguars at Giants Broncos at Texans Raiders at Vikings Chargers at Cardinals Packers at Steelers Cowboys at 49ers Rams at Titans Bengals at Buccaneers
Plenty of uncertainty here - many teams still won't risk their starters 'cuz afraid them getting injuries, so first team offenses and defenses will be getting low snapcounts as usual on week 2. Therefore I am not sure I'd advise backing teams again on this week, but I think the Rams, Bears and Bills trio worth a try 4 betting purpose. Bears one will be tricky but as of today John Fox stated that offensive starters going to play more snaps than they did against Miami, so if Indy will have 2nd and 3rd stringers out of their deptchart by then Da Bears will have a definitive shot taking down the Colts.
Well, Mariota showed us some signs why he should be considered next season to the main qb of the Titans, but the other guys behind him played well too, so my Rams prdeiction did not come trough unlike Da Bears and the Bills one. Interesting offseason so far, Jordy Nelson torn his ACL - going to miss almost all of the games of the Packers.

Michael Vick meets with Pittsburgh Steelers for possible backup role
Quarterback Michael Vick might not be a free agent much longer. The veteran quarterback is meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday to potentially serve as the back up to Ben Roethlisberger, a person with knowledge of the visit told USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the visit. ESPN first reported the fact Vick was in Pittsburgh. The Steelers’ current No. 2 quarterback, Bruce Gradkowski, suffered a hand injury in the Week 2 preseason game against Green Bay. Vick, 35, has been a free agent since his one-year contract with the New York Jets expired in March. He played in 10 games, with three starts, for the Jets last season. He spent the previous five years with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelvin Benjamin's injury might be the most painful of the NFL preseason
Kelvin Benjamin, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Torn ACL; out for season
An offense that was already short on receivers now desperately needs someone to step up. After Benjamin’s monster rookie season in 2014 (73 catches, 1,008 yards, nine touchdowns), the Panthers were counting on him to take the next step and become a dominant force. That leaves Corey Brown, Ted Ginn Jr. and 33-year-old Jerricho Cotchery — who combined for 83 catches, 1,066 yards and three touchdowns last season — as Carolina’s main threats. Carolina’s offense is in trouble. The injury puts more pressure on quarterback Cam Newton, and it’s not unrealistic to think that Benjamin’s absence takes the Panthers out of the playoff picture.

This happened a week ago already. Greg Olsen and Devin Funchness should be enough of a receiving corps for Newton, especially since he is mainly a scrambling quarterback. They didn't even try to reach out for Reggie Wayne like the Pats did. Honestly Jordy Nelson's ACL is bigger blow for the Packers than this for the Panthers.

49ers' Ahmad Brooks charged with sexual battery; Ray McDonald indicted on rape charge
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks and former Niners defensive end Ray McDonald will face charges stemming from an incident last December in which a woman claims she was raped by McDonald. Brooks could face punishment from the NFL under the revised personal conduct policy that includes enhanced punishments for players involved in domestic violence or sexual assault incidents. The policy allows the NFL to investigate – and punish – players before resolution of a criminal case.

Marcus Mariota continues to look confident for Titans
Marcus Mariota has been the picture of unflappability in his first preseason with the Tennessee Titans. He bounced back in strong fashion from two early turnovers in the preseason opener. A headset malfunction failed to shake his confidence in last week's victory over the St. Louis Rams. Although Mariota missed his only two throws of the first quarter in Friday night's 34-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, he completed seven of his final eight passes for a fine 92.6 passer rating in the first half. Through three preseason games, Mariota has completed a robust 19 of 27 passes (70.4 percent) for 252 yards (9.3 yards per attempt).

Bradford, Taylor have strong games
Saturday was relatively uneventful, which is great news. It appears we avoided catastrophic injuries and many of the same themes we've seen the last two weeks continued. Sam Bradford was nearly perfect while directing three touchdown drives.
Tyrod Taylor did everything possible to cement a starting job, although EJ Manuel also played great. Peyton Manning continued to look a little uncomfortable in Gary Kubiak's offense, while Kirk Cousins had an effective audition for the Week 1 starting job in Washington.

Minnesota Vikings cut Brandon Bostick, Joe Banyard
Brandon Bostick is once again searching for a new start to his career. The Minnesota Vikings announced they cut the tight end Sunday, along with 11 other players as they whittle their roster down prior to Tuesday's deadline. The Vikings grabbed Bostick after the Green Bay Packers cut the tight end following his infamous botched onside kick recovery attempt in the NFC Championship game -- a play for which the 26-year-old later said he received death threats.

I'm gonna use this guy as a backup in my fantasy league.

Jets' Sheldon Richardson pleads not guilty to resisting arrest after street racing incident
New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson has pleaded not guilty after being charged with resisting arrest following a July 14 incident that allegedly involved street racing with a 12-year-old boy in the back seat, carrying a loaded handgun and smelling of marijuana, according to New York Newsday. Per the police report, Richardson drove at speeds up to 143 mph while racing another car.
