No. 1 Ohio State closes the Week 1 college football schedule with a much-anticipated game at Virginia Tech. The Buckeyes have a chance to get payback for last year's 35-21 loss to the Hokies. Will Cardale Jones or J.T. Barrett take the first snap? On the other side, longtime coach Frank Beamer and defensive coordinator Bud Foster try to draw up another defensive plan to stop the defending national champions. Vegas installed Ohio State as a 14-point favorite. It's the perfect way to close Labor Day.

Penn State literally buried film of Christian Hackenberg being sacked 10 times
Athletes are known for giving cliché answers like, "We put the game behind us," or "We're moving on to next week," but Penn State players didn't have a double meaning when they said they buried Saturday's game film against Temple. When talking to the media Tuesday, multiple Penn State football players said they buried a DVD of the game in the practice field. Like, with a shovel. Safety Jordan Lucas spoke about the team bonding moment first. "We all decided to do it," he said. "Hack brought it to my attention and we called the team up." Lucas is referring to Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg, who was sacked 10 times in the game against Temple. He added that putting the game film in a hole underground gave the team "positive energy."

Tennessee starting DT Danny O'Brien suspended for Oklahoma game
Tennessee's defense lost another starter Wednesday, this time because of suspension. Junior tackle Danny O'Brien is suspended for at least this Saturday's game against No. 19 Oklahoma, coach Butch Jones announced. “It’s disappointing any time you have to do that,” Jones said during his weekly press conference, via GoVols247. “It’s like disciplining your own kids. You hate to do it, but you have to do it. We have standards and expectations. … I feel for Danny. He’s done some very good things in our football program. We’re working with him. We’ll see what happens down the road.”

Florida coach Jim McElwain is handing Will Grier the keys to the Gators offense. The redshirt freshman will make his first career start Saturday against East Carolina, the school announced Thursday. Grier, a former four-star recruit from Davidson, N.C., split time with Treon Harris in Florida’s 61-13 win over New Mexico State. Grier completed 15 of 17 attempts for 166 yards and two touchdowns, while Harris went 14 of 19 for 215 yards and two scores. Both will play Saturday.
