On Monday, it was reported that Canadian poker pro and 2011 CPT Player of that Year Norman Overdijk, 54, had died in an tragic accident on July 18th, 2015. According to PokerNews, Overdijk and a 26-year-old passenger crashed shortly after takeoff in a two-seater paraplane somwhere in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Never ever heard of him in my life - and I am probably not alone with this fact, but this is such and unfortunate and stupid way of dying I cannot even begin... Altough if he's been killed in a car accident that would not even become a news article I guess.

I am with Bowie on this as I had not seen or heard of him before but he was probably more well known in Canada.There seems to be quite a lot of plane crashes lately and I suppose in the rural parts of Canada using a small plane to get around is pretty normal.

sad news indeed these small planes are a mystery to me always you hear these kind of news there must be restrictions to whoever fly and they should do mechanical checks daily and also the other guy just 26 years old .. may help his family pass this hard time like everyone said never heard of him but i guess the way he died was news worthy

Ever since I started to watch 'Flying Wild Alaska' I am kinda scared getting on a plane whenever is snowing out there.

I think if you live hundreds of miles from anywhere in the wilderness of Canada then unless you want to be spending hours travelling then a small plane is ideal.Maybe they should just make getting a plane license a little more stricter.
