I am not sure if this topic has come up this week but I have just read a news item talking about stars banning some 3rd party software,I know Party have imposed restrictions but I was surprised to see Pokerstars doing it.I am not sure if that means every type of HUD etc and I can't put a link up as they are mostly from other poker sites. I have seen a mixed reaction to this but I it seems a lot of players are generally pleased with the decision.

It might be a security issue, but it might also be a way for increased earnings through rake. Cause when you see players, that you dont want to play against them, you wait for them to leave, or search for other tables. But if you dont have this ability, looking for players and their stats, then you will join at once. Isnt that right?

Stars is not the only poker room / network which announces major changes
Microgaming Poker Network announced that they were going to allow players to change their screen names every 30 days or 1,000 real-money hands. this option makes tracking software and HUD's almost useless.
1. Players will be able to view the last 12 months of their own hand histories within the Missions icon in the partypoker software, but hand histories will no longer be able to be downloaded and saved to their local devices 2. Players wishing to wait for a cash game will join the room-wide waiting list and be randomly seated when a seat that matches their preference becomes available 3. Players joining a cash game will see the names of their opponents only once their first hand is dealt
