Dutch Judges Claim That Poker Is A Game of Chance

The Dutch appeals court ruled that it is unlawful for people to hold poker games because they are equivalent to gambling, according to a report from Dutchnews.nl. The decision originates from an almost 10-year-old case that involved two males who were prosecuted for hosting super low-stakes tournaments of Texas hold'em poker at a bar for a period of two years, which attracted around 70 players. Dutch Judges Claim That Poker Is A Game of Chance  0
well poker is a form of gambling and luck does play an enormous role, especially if we are talking about short term results, so i do understand this verdict. however there are arguments supporting that poker is a skill game, still this depends on many factors. i guess each case should be viewed separately.

Just another(the judge) person, who probably never played the game,or,has played, but never won any thing,it's always those people who cry the loudoust about poker being a game of chance as apposed to skill.

... Big Smile< Some folks are VERY skilled at playing games of chance,....which poker is...a game of chance...!

... Big Smile< The skill in poker is in 'manipulating' people,...such as 'fooling' or 'bullying' them at certain times...but that has NOTHING to do with the mechanics of the game.

... Big Smile< The thing that makes poker 100% chance is....:

No matter how good you are,,...you CAN NOT tell or predict what the next card up will be,...OR, what the other person(s) will do or how they will react... ONLY when you CAN predict results 100% of the time for as long as you live, will it then become a game of 'skill'... Big Smile Thumbs Up

... Big Smile< As soon as there is the slightest or minute amount of chance,....so much as 0.000000000001% chance involved,....it all becomes 100% chance,......because like russian roulette,...you can NEVER tell which chamber has the bullet in it...!

....And I'd argue that 'Fact' with the best of them... Big Smile

... Big Smile< ...just for the record IcyOne..... That wasn't me who gave you a Thumbs Downneg,.....BUT,....I WILL go and give you a pos Thumbs Up which will effectively erase it...

Big Smile< ....Oh,....incidentally,...I was being serious.... Big Smile< 100% chance... Tongue

Helmut said that if there was no luck in poker he would win all the tournaments he enter. Big Smile Big Smile

This is the old question about skill and luck nobody can denied that there is a factor of luck in poker however what is the percentage luck compare to skill. Question Question Question

I wont say that Helmut i right but if you look at tournaments with an entry fee of 50K and over i think that there are not many non skill players entering.

So all skill players together and how many of them are winning more than one. Question Question

What make the difference if it is not luck. Question Question Question

Poker is a game of chance, whether you like it or not. No matter what skill you may employ, the outcome is still based on luck. Luck that the right card or cards will come or luck that the guy with AA will fold to a bluff. If he doesn't fold, then he is lucky that he didn't fold and called correctly.

As far as we are all concerned does it really matter as long as the government keep taking their share and the poker providers take theirs?

Poker has a percentage of chance, but it's definitely a game of skill, especially if we're talking about live poker face, where there comes into play a rigged software
The player who has more skill will have a greater chande always win the game by more than their cards are not so good
It could also be considered a sport, but I think culturally never recognize it as such

These Dutch judges are degenerates, but have legalized prostitution but fail against poker Confused
Who understand them Question
Poker is a game that mixes chance, skill and ingenuity in equal parts
I do not think it will ever be considered a sport, because they are not given the conditions for that to happen

What is it that u guys dont understand? its so plain and simple, they are pushing the decision that "poker is a game of chance" and not skill, coz if its skill, they can not tax it, if its gamble, they can, and thats all there is to it.
Corruption, its the name of the game, its not that u dont understand it, u dont want to, thats the difference, people really need to get off their asss, and spill some blood, sorry to say but there is no other way to stop corrupt people, do as the mafia does, go to those judges homes, pay them a visit, make them an offer they can not refuse, make them realize that they are not untouchable, and thats all there is to it. Big Smile

The mafia is no longer looks and behaves like they did in the Godfather trilogy, let's just leave it at that.
Today they don't send offers, horseheads or any other cute things around - they just simply make you dissapear.
