Nashvil-San Jose (1:2) 03:00 2,40 3,80 2,50 1
Sharks team scope: San Jose coach Peter DeBoer said Game 4 presents an opportunity to put greater pressure on the Predators. "We were the best road team in the NHL all year, and I like our spot," DeBoer said. "This isn't going to be easy. Nashville beat an excellent Anaheim team, a team that many people picked to win the Stanley Cup, so they obviously have a lot of quality things happening there. So, we knew this wasn't going to be easy going in, but again, we are three games in and we are up 2-1. We are confident, and we are comfortable on the road."
Predators team scope: Nashville found a formula for success in Game 3 and will try to replicate that. The Predators want to play with speed in the neutral zone and establish offensive-zone time. They believe their speed has picked up as the series has progressed. "I think the first game, I thought we could have attacked the game a little more," defenseman Roman Josi said. "Could have played better. I thought the second game we were skating really well, and [Game 3] too. That's kind of our mindset, and that's how we've been playing all year. It's got to be our mindset going forward here in the series."

NYIsland-TampaBay (1:2) 01:00 2,40 3,80 2,50 1
Lightning team scope: Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos (vascular surgery) and defenseman Anton Stralman (lower body) did not practice with the Lightning at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Thursday and are unlikely to play. Forward Erik Condra (upper body) and defenseman Matthew Carle (undisclosed) practiced and could be ready. Carle was paired with Slater Koekkoek, an indication he could return. Forward J.T. Brown (upper body) also participated. "I don't have the medical report yet, but they looked OK in practice," coach Jon Cooper said. "Hopefully we get word that everybody's available, and that's a good thing."
Islanders team scope: Defenseman Thomas Hickey was hit by Boyle moments before the latter scored the overtime goal Tuesday, but Hickey said he's OK and ready to play Friday. Forward Ryan Strome, who was a healthy scratch for Game 3, did not skate on the top four lines at practice, but Capuano said it doesn't mean Strome won't play. "I'm not going to talk about the lineup or the lines," Capuano said. "I don't really discuss it too much. Even in practice where we are now, I don't think you can read into that too much. We just basically went with the same lines as we went with in the last game." Goalie Jaroslav Halak practiced again Thursday but likely won't back up Thomas Greiss for Game 4. "I don't know exactly how far along he is," Capuano said.

Washingt-Pittsburgh (1:3) 01:15 2,20 4,20 3,30 1
Penguins team scope: Pittsburgh defenseman Olli Maatta practiced Thursday but is unlikely to play, coach Mike Sullivan said. Maatta was injured in Game 2 by a hit from Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik and has missed the past two games. "I feel good," Maatta said. "This is the first step towards playing for sure, practicing with the team. I'm happy with the progression." Forward Eric Fehr will play after missing Game 4 because of undisclosed reasons. Defenseman Kris Letang will return from a one-game suspension.
Capitals team scope: Washington defenseman Karl Alzner missed practice because of a maintenance day but is expected to play. Center Mike Richards was sick and did not practice but is expected to play. Coach Barry Trotz shuffled forward lines in practice and might stick with them Saturday. "Using the other side of your brain once in a while when you get someone different in the lineup," Trotz said. "That's really what we're trying to do tomorrow."

Nashvil-San Jose (2:3) 03:00 2,45 3,80 2,45 1
Sharks team scope: San Jose is focusing on slowing down Nashville's second line of Colin Wilson, Mike Fisher and James Neal heading into Game 6. That line has scored the past five goals for the Predators, and the Sharks want to limit their chances near the net. "[Goaltender Martin Jones] has played well," Couture said. "He's been good all playoffs. We just expect that from him now. That one line they have, the Fisher line, has been productive for them. We need to force them to play on the outside. They're good when they're rolling around and finding soft areas like they did on that goal with Neal in the slot. So [we've] got to continue to force them to the outside."
Predators team scope: Nashville wasn't happy with its execution and effort in Game 5. "We talked about it today already," Predators defenseman Barret Jackman said Sunday. "You've got to have that fire and be [mad] that you lost the game and take that emotion into tomorrow. You've got to also have it in your head that you're not going to repeat that effort, and we're going to come out tomorrow flying." Center Mike Ribeiro was back in the lineup for Game 5 after he was a healthy scratch in Games 3 and 4. The Predators are 2-0 in this series when Ribeiro is out of the lineup.
