TOM DWAN LOST A $20 MILLION POT IN MACAU  0
Daniel 'Jungleman’ Cates got questioned over the status of the Durrr Challenge
on a "ask me anything" thread at a poker forum
What may surprise many though was the confrimation that Tom “durrr” Dwan once lost an eyewatering $20M pot in Macau.

Cates was asked what was the biggest pot he had ever witnessed—his response: “I saw Tom get set over set on a dry board vs another player for something like $20M usd total pot.”

And as for the Durrr Challenge, it looks like we all may have to wait a bit longer as Cate’s said: “Tom’s dad is sick and he is in New Jersey with him"

I'm sure he did a little stunned facial expression then took a little one hour break before he got back into action after this pot... Big Smile

Durrr likes action. For him, real money is play money. He's never gonna fold middle sets or bottom set in texas hold'em I think, no matter what the amount is... But can't blame him, that's poker. I miss seeing him on television!!

As long as he keeps winning with those... But as the above story suggest he obviously not.

IMO a set is the best hand you can have and the worst to play against.

This kind of hand is almost impossible to read unless you know you opponent very well and can read is play. You can read a flush, a straight or a full but how can you read the set.

If only one player have one you maybe can read by his betting but let say you have two pairs against a set now you have a real problem even with the betting size. Question Question

A $20 million pot is probably not a life-changing deal for him and his generous backers.

I don't know what is his overall balance but I'm sure losing that amount must have hurt him but I still have no news about Gus Hansen, has he stopped playing?

That amount of money is insane to be won or lost in a single game.
No matter how good of a player you are and your earnings, or whos backing you to play,
i still find this silly.
Obviously these players dont have limits on where to stop,
chasing the big score risking everything.

Even if one shouldn't believe everything that comes out of the mouth of poker players, this story shows where the money is right now. This makes the highest staked games at the old FT look small in comparison.

This one can be also true shokaku. We say the same here about fishermen and their bragging Smile

hey calmplay
here are the last news about Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen appeared on Good Morning Denmark this week to talk about his life away from , and the one-time high-stakes regular apparently is back in his home country “for good” to possibly raise a family.

“Millions of dollars, insane bets and wild lifestyle, now star Gus Hansen home to quiet Denmark [to] raise a family,” according to a tagline accompanying the video (subscription required).

According to a report (translated) from pokerlobby.gr, Hansen was on the show to take part in a Red Cross campaign where Danish celebrities donated the clothes off their backs to charity. Hansen reportedly also donated an old shirt, adding more indication that he is really taking a break from the game.

According to H**********B, Hansen’s last time playing the nosebleeds on was in late 2014. Hansen stepped away from the platform down $20.74 million lifetime after 1.5 million hands. Over on , Hansen was active as recently as mid-2015. On that site, Hansen dropped $1.38 million over nearly 64,000 hands.

Prior to Black Friday in April 2011, Hansen was on a nearly $8 million upswing, but that was cut short by shutting down. When the site re-launched, Hansen’s heater had ended and he began a long losing streak.

Early last year, Hansen explained that his downswing was the result of extremely poor game selection and a “tilt factor” being “about the worst in the world.”

In tournaments, Hansen is a roughly $10 million . The WSOP bracelet ’s last live tournament cash was in March of 2014. The 42-year-old is also the of three WPT titles.

Losing a pot of 20 million USD must hurt.... But maybe not as much as it would for any one of our Forum regular friends losing a $2.30 pot in a 1/2c game at pokerstars or PartyPoker, especially when our opponents have zilcho in their hands and the community cards somehow miraculously provide them with a pot busting hand by the time the river has run by.

20 million, is 20 million, either you havent any or you have billions.
So unless you give the same value to 2 $ and to 20 millions $, which is silly, then it always
hurts.
A forum regular finds with the same easiness 2$, that they find another 20 millions? Smile
