No Longer Free To Park At Several Las Vegas Casinos

MGM Resorts International, one of the world's largest casino operators, will soon start charging for self-parking at its casinos in Las Vegas, including Mirage, Bellagio, Aria, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand. Prices for parking will vary from casino to casino and special events might have higher parking rates. However, Nevada residents don't have to pay for self-parking until after 2[...]   Read more » No Longer Free To Park At Several Las Vegas Casinos

Times are changing in Vegas.
Gambling revenue has not been growing like before and now accounts for only 30% of total tourist revenue. Instead, hotel, food and beverage, live entertainment, convention space usage and soon parking are driving revenue growth in Vegas.
I think that most visitors are unlikely to alter vacation plans for a few dollars of parking cost savings, however, MGM's paid parking plans could drive out-of-state visitors/tourists to rival casinos nearby.

You are right when the gambling revenue were the bread and butter of the casino and hotels you could have very nice room in top hotels for not much money compare to any other places around the world.

This is not the case anymore and now you have to pay for everything you get in Vegas but IMO parking fees is a little bit to much. Aww crap! Aww crap!

Yeah, but the mentioned casinos are all on the Strip, right? So it should be easier to reach them by walking than to drive over.

Some people just don't like walking even for 5 to 10 minutes. I always drove myself or used a cab.

WHAT? Pay for parking? WHAT MORE? Pay for 'self' parking? What is the world coming to? People have to park their cars themselves and then have to pay for it? We may as well pay to 'non-self' park, (whatever that is) cos at least then you get a little extra for your money and don't have to worry about finding a space to squeeze into!

Ha,ha,so funny news!like they dont earn enough,so they must charge parking spot!so you lose for example 100 000 $ and then when you go home to pay 20 $ (example) for parking to be able to leave casino and parking!so sick from them!

Another meaningless article.
No one cares about parking fees.
Free or not gamblers dont give AF.
Business in vegas will continue as usual.
people travel from all over the world to sin city spending 1000s of dollars along the way.
Do you think they will get deterred by a parking fee. LOL

No. But I also think the parking fee is just the first thing in a long list of things which were one-time free in there and now it's not.
If business is really thriving in Vegas then this changing agenda is definitely not sending the right message.

It is does seem a bit petty that they charge you for parking when you, will more than likely, will be giving them a lot of money from losing at the tables. I wonder if this will affect their business in any way

ofcourse people will still come at vegas and will play at casino, but how this big companies want more money and want to make more profit on small things, like they dont make enough on all other things!its funny what they doing!

It could also be one of the additional security measures Las Vegas casinos (citywide) are planning to implement.
There was a nasty incident that began with a fight between two women and four men on the third floor of the parking garage for the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood in February 2016. There were numerous murders occurred in the parking lot or just outside the exit in recent years.

Well, they should have HD cameras/security staff everywhere already in these casino parking lots for their own sake and not because crime became rampant to the point that it could hurt their business.
But then again, the visitors already payed for this with all those chips they've lost at the tables so getting them paying again is really just a bit petty as doubletop777 mentioned above.

I clearly stated "one of the additional security measures" didn't I?
When was the last time you were in Vegas?
