Breaking: Messi got his sentence. 21 Months in jail but...

Messi has got his sentence for Tax-Fraud and the sentence is no less than a fine and 21 months in prison. BUT. Because it's Lionel Messi's first crime, he will not have to spend time in jail, not yet.  Messi has been sentenced with 21 months in jail, but the sentence is suspended which means, that he will only have to spend time in jail if he commits another crime. Eff him.
Managed to get hundreds of millions and try to screw the authorities out of 4.2???
If that is not the textbook definition of a pennyf*cker I don't know what is. Blaming it all to his dad is even worse. The old man is obviously not his accountant just his 'fall guy'.

Aye it's s**t isn't it,then again the rich are always trying to find ways to dodge tax in most countries, they usually get away with it as well when they get caught.

The money this guy earns is incredible and it does seem stupid to try and defraud the government for, what is to him, such a small amount. I hope he has learnt his lesson and just gets on with playing football

Can you imagine spending 2 years of your life in jail over money? Tax money at that...

I find it very disturbing that a mistake in judgement could land you in jail like that. Is it suppose to compensate for all the ones that get away with it? That is very rough when you are the one getting caught being stupid.

How do you get to the point that tax evasion equates to taking 2 years of a life? That is incredibly disproportionate IMO...

in spain law is different!if you didnt commit serious crime and if punishment is less then two years,it can be changed in probation,so he will pay that money and will be out!so this 21 months dosent mean anything!

I think there is no chance that Messi goes to jail , they published information that in Spain if you are sentenced to less than two years in prison do not have to go to jail , pay and free you , but I have always wondered at so much money athletes , football players , basketball player they do not pay tax to the state, just ordinary people like us pay tax ?

I was shocked when I heard the news ... an amazing story ... I think that Messi himself was simply not informed about this ... compared to his salary, the money is simply nothing ... maybe its financial managers decided to make the Messi and slelat the offense without his knowledge

I always get mixed feelings, yes f4ck the government, they are wasting your money on 85% bullsh1t, but on the other side, if you earn a lot you can miss more. To have an civilized country, you simply need a lot of money to maintain it civilized.

Maybe he was thinking something like: they probably won't catch me, why won't I save some millions.
This is not a strange decision since everyone in governments are corrupt and/or self absorbed.
Politicians really do stuff for an image and to secure their own future (since you have better opportunities at the job market after your work for the government). This is one of the reasons rich(greedy) people avoid paying taxes.

i dont mind if some people have illicit work to have a better life, but it makes me angry when extremely rich people like him commit tax fraud. great footballer but really bad character !
actually hes not only betraying the goverment but us small people who work hard for their money.
everywhere they reduce the budget for education because money is missing for example.
wish he was going to jail.

Hey! It doesn't matter whether he claimed he knew nothing about this, he has been convicted and unless and until he appeals and is successful he is guilty. If he gets off with it that's his good fortune. As usual though we see stories of people with loads of money choosing not to pay the correct taxes and this is not a fair way to live their lives.

I don't think we debating about whether he is guilty or not rather just all of us left impressed by the fact that how a meaningless fraction of his true earnings he kept secret from the tax man made worth all this drama and tabloid sh*te for him.

are you serious?
why is this a good lession`? if i ever move to spain, i never would pay tax !
if i pay tax, nothing happens, if i dont pay take, well, nothing happens. i would be 2 years on probation. thats all.
lession would be = lets see if they catch me. its more a challenge than a lession. many people love challenges lol.

HE will have to pay a fine of 2 million euros ( 2.2 million dollars) for tax fraud in Spain , equivalent to only 10 days of his annual salary of 80 million euros ..

I think Messi must be in prison,if someone of us do same thing we will be in prison for fraction of that amount.Someone says that is good lesson, better lesson is to put him in prison and to pay double amount which he want to stole from country, that is lesson for famous player and all people. That is lesson for greedy people like him.Good player ,bad man,but if he was punish like he must be,he will be no good player anytime after and that is correct, any of us will lose our jobs and we will be down, but not Messi he is poor boy why we must punish someone wno earn only about 100 mill. $ per year.

I said that is good lesson, beacuse we all know that you wouldnt see messi in jail!people when kill somebody get 5 years and ofcourse player like messi cant get prison!its better to take money from him!and he got 3,5 million euros to pay,not 2 million!

He will not has to go to prison cuz they suspended the sentence but he has still gotten sentenced to prison - if any of you know what I mean...
So they acknowledged that he comitted a fraud/crime but treated him like a first time offender and gave him an easier way out.
