Same as everywhere is my guess.
And here also the local land casinos, along with the once 100% public betting organisation,
that now part has passed to the private sector, were behind the push of the new laws.
And they are still pushing for a complete ban.

Reasoning for the ban, (one of the reasons) to protect the people.
Now they are doing a research/poll on how to name the slots,
they are gonna put in every physical betting shop Smile

Unlike a lot of Europe, I don't think there's anything in the Australian laws that means we'll get online poker with segregated player pools.

basically - it doesn't even look like they're discussing poker as the legislation is moving through our parliament. They're literally throwing in arguments about kiddie porn, the darknet and all sorts of weird, unrelated s**t.

I don't think the people voting on the bill even understand the difference between casino games, pokies and poker. It's a sad state of affairs.

But (online) poker is going to become a victim of a bill targetting online gaming in general.

I think another victim maybe be any other eGaming (think CounterStrike, Starcraft, etc) that have competitive matches where money may be involved.

Hi. I regret for your present problem. I hope the government will consider protests and will show other decision. I consider that this problem not only yours, and global. In each country there is the a*****e who wants to destroy something.

it would be great news if you dont get restrictions about playing online poker!they should give you option to play online poker and casino and to do with your money whatever they want or at least some option that poker sites register at australia!it would be bad news if they restrict you with online gambling!
