The One Psychological Characteristic That Online Trolls Tend to Share

I found this article interesting and insightful, so I'm sharing it with you all.

Lol I started reading it but I couldn't finish! I think trolling is simply being sarcastic. It's not meant to hurt people it's meant to annoy people and make fun at their expense. Sometimes people overeact to these type of things. Nowadays in most online games you can mute people you don't want to hear/read so it fixes that problem nicely Big Smile

Damn trolls Blink

just like themachineqc says: for most trolls its about sarcasm and fun and i confess being a troll.

actually its hilarious when you hear there is studys about trolls, because trolls do exactly the same - with strange opinions (opinions they do not really share in real) they study the response of other users.

Thank you for your feedback.

The comments below made my day.
"The difference you see in people is called character development. It's the emotional maturity that should accompany physical maturity. Some kids stop maturing at pre-school, some grade school, some high school, etc. In my experience, once someone decides to stop growing emotionally, they are forever stuck at that level of growth."
"The study proves to me that trolls are the ideal recruiting ground for overseers in a concentration camp, and I'd bet that it's the job they most aspire to have."

what do you mean by that? trolls are ideal recruiting ground for terrorists or what? is you the troll now? lol
there is different kind of trolls. most of them are harmless. the trolls you talking about do act as agitator - an agitator incite people but he self always stand in the back. so i doubt your camp theory is right.
troll = satire, one can call it comedy by writing. doing a study/psychogram of trolls and compare it with maturity is like counting snowflakes imo. Smile

It is dangerous if you can not think about stuff for yourself.

Especially stuff about psychology.

Many of these tests are inclusive.

They forgot certain aspects, so their conclusion is based on their wrongly made assumptions.

For example the test doesn't say how the trolls or non trolls were raised by their mother, what family conditions they were in. etc.

Don't read stuff about that. The people who write these are likely to be nerds, I don't mean nerds in a good way, I mean people who can't think normal because they are to dorky, they forget certain aspects to take in consideration and have bad people knowledge. Most people who study psychology are people who haven't got this understanding of people. People who are good at reading others are likely not to study psychology.

Same goes for governments, the real people who are good and honest and fair at this, are likely not in the government. But rather people who want to be important and who like their face on TV, those are the people in the government, not the real people with character and a heart.

So once again, stop reading this "studies" if you can't think about it your self, you seriously trigger me if I read these silly reports.

Before the internet their were prank calls... It's just fun/bullying/absurdism which you only do with a certain form of anonymity. Some take it really serious, other just a little. Everyone is different.
Don't feed the trolls. Shock

Some people might find the original article mundane and boring.

Trolls are NOT humorous!
Trolls are NOT sarcastic!
Trolls are NOT to be tolerated!

The most important item in the article is the recognition of the disconnect between real life and the Internet. There is no disconnect. The internet is reallife people....just some still don't realise! Some people still believe that it's ok to do stuff on the internet that they would not get away with in Real life.

I think if you simply watch the video at the end of the article, you may get a feel for how bad and offensive trolling is.

It's not funny it's just offensive behaviour by people who either do not know How to function in a well organised society, or are simply those rude people who you would ordinarily have nothing to do with as they generally have nothing of interest to say!

Constructive opinion or comment is fine and is to be encouraged. Being rude and offensive should simply not be tolerated.

trolls in whatever form they are trolling around and in whatever place they find that the trolling activity is being done most prolifically should not be allowed to simply troll around. trolling as a practise is really harmful to society as we know it and i conclude this post by stating: "troll for president".

Use you Japanese wisdom and go out more. If you want to learn about people, be among them...
Nothing personal, but I am not going to read those reports. Peace to all Japanese sisters and brothers. Don't become poisoned by the west.. o wait.. anyway be proud on your culture, other cultures and people are different and that's a good thing. Please clean the nuclear waste and then we don't have a godzilla, no deal.

thats not quite true. actually trolls keep certain forums alive with off topics.
you have to seperate between trolls who either stalk people (on social media, forums or w.e) or just being a d**k to others, and trolls who just discuss and provoke but in a friendly tone.

trolling has unfortunately been named to some who actually arent trolling. so it seems more wide spread. this thread seems like a troll though

Let's look at multiple perspectives.

Don't Ignore the Trolls. Feed Them Until They Explode.
‘Don’t feed the trolls’ really is good advice – here’s the evidence

Honestly the Internet could bear with it. It has a million other weird things on it, so trolls does not even matter all that much.
And about the Internet = Real Life. Yeah, no. Sorry, just simply no.
