Omaha & Omaha hi-lo  0
Oi Mobinis,

Was wondering if you guys ever play omaha?
I like the game but it takes a lot of focus, it is always tricky when there are already two of the same cards like K,K,J on the flop for example and you don't have a K. Because people have more cards with omaha compared to hold'em and most of the time more people are in the hand.

Hi-lo is also nice, but very "funky". What I mean by that is that there are always crazy outcomes.
It also took me like 3 times before I really understood hi-lo
It can be quiet confusing if you were thinking you fully understand it, but you oblivious don't after you loose a hand.

Tell me about your experience, opinions or share tactics!
Thumbs Up

hi-lo is a rake eater, way to often potsharings, but i like to play omaha ! - only on low limits for fun.
i do not have any tactics to share with you, except the 2nd best hand is mostly not good enough to win Big Smile

Omaha hi/lo is the game i like the most.
You will have to calculate the shared pots. Always. Teddy is right here.
You can win hand after hand and yet end up losing cause you are paying the rake.
One of the best hands, is when you have both lo and hi Smile
Do not chase too much in this game. It doesnt pay.

Omaha High-Low is even more confusing than Omaha High. There are just too many playable four-card combinations and you are going to have to look for high as well as low hands in Omaha High-Low. It is definitely an interesting game, though.

Hi mobsters!

I also prefer omaha high to omaha hi/low obviously. Split pots are indeed rake eaters and I just don't like the whole idea of low cards winning half the pot but only sometimes... I just never took the time to really learn the whole dynamics of omaha hi/low.

There's also pot limit omaha 8 or better. Also called PLO8. And I think I've seen 6 cards PLO around also. I haven't really tried it but it must be crazy.

I do enjoy a game of Omaha but i am nowhere near competent enough to play it for money. When i see people playing this game on T.V., i have the greatest respect for them because it is not as easy as they make it look

Is is not a hard game to play.
The only thing you have to have in mind is, that it is not holdem
And im saying this, casue way too many are treating it as one, following the same game play.
For example having AA is not an all in preflop no matter what....

Omaha is a fantastic game and one that is really worthwhile learning more about as the is some serious money to be won there by players who know what they are doing. While I would not claim to be an expert I have had some great results playing Omaha because if you can focus and play the board well you can do better than the holdem players who pop along for a bit of a change! OMaha HI/LO is a different kettle of fish that I usually steer clear from.

Do some study on the tactics of the name and you will enjoy it more.

i dig omaha hi/lo really much, probably the one game where you really have a great chance of beating the sh1t out of donks and fish without huge variance involved, you only have to stick tight to basic strategy and pick the tables where there aren't too many god player or the game can get edgy.

Well, AA pre flop is still the best hand, it's just not as big a favorite. There's a missconception that you have to defend AA everytime though. You can be picky and just decide when you want to play it hard. AAxx is usually best in a heads up situation. You want to get the money in pre flop or on the flop when you're still favorite, or bully the guy out of the pot.

AA is a lot better when it's double suited with straight draws or a double pair as it usually gives you more % chance to win.

There are some players, playing the AA like holdem a i said, no matter if they are suited,
or connected for a possible straight.
And their game play is simple. Pot play with it till the river, no matter what, the common cards
are.
I just laugh at them every time the lose. And it happens more than enough Smile

i love and hate omaha, i get pretty hands more often and a much higher chance of getting rivered. hi/lo is boring in that you may as well call all the way just to split the pot. online pot limit omaha is a action fest. lose/win big or go home

well if we look at this more intellectually with deep psychological influences running through our humble bodies we should at least acknowledge the fact that omaha hi/lo has the life written in its name- high and low, low and high... that's the way we roll, there are ups and downs, downs and downs and downs and downs...

i eat sh1t in the morning

are you high? or are you more of the low?

i tend to think omaha hi/lo is a game destined to me- i am quite often high and yet low at the same time- right there under the tables. and the basic strategy tell s that you have to go for both hi and lo at the same time... ticks my boxes perfectly.

During my high grinding games, a few years back, it was omaha hi/lo that kept me playing.
I was losing in holdem ring games in general, and i would have quit if it wasnt the hi/lo
If you have good info for the players, and you are not playing in big sites, then it can be very profitable.
