One small gesture cost this man a $100K jackpot

A friendship goes sour after this highly unusual incident at a casino in Florida. Jan Flato, age 66, and his friend Marina Navarro, age 35, went to Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Fort Lauderdale. Jan was playing slots but wasn’t getting any wins with his $50 bets, so he asked his friend Marina to push the button for him to see if she could help change his luck. And it sure di[...]   Read more » One small gesture cost this man a $100K jackpot

well what do you know poor jan (66) was screwed by his friend (35!) big time, and i do wonder what sort of friendship can be between 66 papa and 35 gal... this time the ball sucking friend of jan's decided to take the $100K instead of the usual $100 for the session

What the f***? But it was him who put the money in! So if I just go to casino and wait for someone to put money in then quickly run up and push the button for him then it's me who wins it?

There are many people that we define as friends, but most of the time they are just acquaintances. It seems that Jan Flato discovered that someone he thought was his friend wasn't in one of the worst possible circumstances.

So many years, i didnt have a clue, there is such a rule in the casino.
That no matter who pouts the money in, its the one that hits the button,
that takes any winnings...
So what if a drunk fool that you dont know, comes and hit the button while you
are playing, they will give that players the money?
Doesnt seem right to me....

G'day mate

This is NOT a new rule in casinos.
I have know about it for over twenty years.
I never thought it was right but it is the way it is everywhere.
I hope none of you are ever put in this situation.
If you are you lose and they win.
be cool

I was a little dumbfounded by this news .... Marina was certainly a terrible succubus and I did not have to let her get away from retribution .... I will now go to the casino and click on the start button of other people's slots ... if the winnings (any) Then he is mine by law

is it that hard to say escort girl instead of friend as there is no way they are after what happened and said to each other but I'm glad I learned something with that man's stupidity...

Very strange situation this was, I am sad for Jan whi was really unlucky and i can easy say that his winnings were stolen from him, to me casino's are just foolish they have all sorts if rules that allow them not to oay out winnings, it to oay to a different oerson or something else.

I did not know about the rule that whoever presses the button, is actually placing the wager. There are always two versions to every story and we might never know the actual truth

This woman have really a verry bad character and normally it was fair to share this winning by fiftyfifty for both. This news sounds like a b-production film. Perhaps he can be happy to know what a "friend" he have on his side, but this was a verry expensive experience for him Blink

yeah just like many mobbits and mobelittos above i also find this casino rule kinda strange... so imagine this, i buy some virtual credits and insert my card into a slut (pun intended) and the drunk gorilla comes along kicks me in the head and shoves the remainder of me aside from the machine and to insult me even more wins $1 gazillion and casino says this: the one who pushes the button is the one who is the legal owner of the winnings? f**k yeah...

The truth I believe is how they say haha the silver changes the people ... Have a friendship and that for something like this the mine has made it something like that it has no words, although the truth nowadays is much of that everywhere Or no wonder when there is silver in between, there really is whether they are friends or not.

Next time you are in a casino with friends or family members and you play slots,
make sure they are far enough from you.
It will save you lots of trouble with this silly rule, in case someone has the bright
idea of pushing the button Smile

It seems to me that the best option now for playing slots is to block approaches to your slot so that no one can come up and give a button ... according to such rules, different options are possible .... a nightmare

Idiots gonna be idiots for sure...
Man over sixty with a 'friend' who is thirty years younger than him yet he believes she will going to choose him instead of the money which just belongs to her because he was an idiot who was thinking it matters who is pushing a slot's button.

yes to me it seems that pajalnik's idea of blocking approaches and cockroaches towards your slot/slut is the wisest thing you can think of, therefore next time before you are playing do some masonry works before you sit down and build a small wall around your slot/slut to protect you and it/her.

And well that some people believe haha a mine of his age this with him because he says to be friend, it was very expensive to understand that is not so hahahaha Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap!

Great story and one of the kind found only in the great state of trumpington! So, here is where this story bothers me. The manager says, "When you put your money in the machine there is no wager, but whoever hits the button the wager actually happens.” So, Mr Manager! Where is the button that I hit to retrieve my money when I decide I do not want to press the play button on this occasion?

You could cashout, there is an option for that of course but if its not a penny machine then its just gonna print you a receipt which you could cash-in at one of the cashiers. So yeah, technically is doable.
