Late registration.  0
Which do you prefer of the two?
1.Starting a tournament on time.
2.Late registration.

Why?
What are the pros and cons of both?

Just wondering.

late registration is only usefull if you dont make it in time to participate in a tourny. else there is no advantage, rather the opposite due to higher blinds.

I always like to get in early and try and get a feel about the table i am playing on. LIstening to the top pros though, a lot of them think it is an advantage to register as late as possible

late reg unless its timed. higher blinds mean people are tighter and bigger pots, closer to the cash, dont waste 1-2hrs before busting etc

Of course it's better to play in the tournament from the very beginning ... at the beginning of the tournament there are a lot of donkeys that easily play ..... on the other hand you yourself can not be among the donkeys))) ... the result: the first option is certainly better

well you cant know is it better to wait sometimes or to play from start, because in first 30 minutes you can get some good cards, but still lose against some donk player and that you can avoid if you wait something!if blinds dont go up fast, you can always wait, but all depend how you like to play!

it depends. lots of factors come into play- what tis the tournaments structure, what is the buy-in, maybe it's even a freeroll with some maniacs going for it at the start and many places paid, so it's wise to start when those dudes are out... i don't have one strategy and i'm not sure there really is one universal.

I usually register before the start of the tournament and only when as mentioned above a tournament I want to play is already running then I would use the late registration option otherwise I don't see any advantage... but I believe the late registration is part of some players strategy.

its always better to reg on time, when BB cost less, and you can earn more making bigger stack in begining and using your bigger stack in your advantage, ofcourse if you are bad player and think its better chance for you to lose your chips in that period, than late reg, and hope you win some flips, but its big advantage to reg on time... also if you are playing some deep stack tournament with late reg of couple of hours like 3,4,5,6h late reg than you can skip few begining levels because you cannot win that much unles you are involved in cooler hand

Depends on the tournament you are playing.
There are quite a few regulars that prefer the late registration, playing a bit lotto with
all ins and rebuys in order to get a good stack and progress.
It is easier someone calling your all in when the blinds are higher.

A long time ago when we were able to play in microgaming, i had tagged a few players doing exactly
this.
Late registration every time with constant rebuys. And they were quite often in the money.

Of course if you start early you have the chance to build a stack for cheap.

At some tournaments it is better to register later such as now at 888 poker I'm almost always logged late and get a ticket right away for 10 minutes the tournament is evaluated by those players who unreasonably play all in with any cards If I have a little more luck I get some dollar Smile

Of course, players who with any card on their hand are an Ollin is a big player's category .... now it's mostly Ukrainians ... previously it was either Brazilians or Romanians ... all the same the nationality affects the game (in the total mass)

I actually don't mind either. Though it has too be a deep stack tounrey for me really want to take a chance late registering.

I also like picking on the fish and taking down a lot of easy big pots early on.

Both can work but playing from the outset makes more sense with the more info you can gain on your table.

Pajalnick my friend I do not want to insult you but I have to say at the 888 poker at this moment there are many Russian players who no matter what cards they have play all in I'm just wondering why they come to the tournaments for a few minutes play Confused

hello my friends and fellow mobsters

Well this is a nice question with ,at least for me , no right answer Question Question
Mainly I like to start on time because it`s a good time to crack some donks and build a nice pot but you can also be knocked out by a crazy kamikaze donk Aww crap! Aww crap!

WELL NOTHING IS SIMPLE IN THE POKER WORLD Big Smile Big Smile

Stay cool and be nice

big buyin tournies it would be good to reg on time since info on opp comes into play more. but in lower buyings like 27c/55c/1.10/2.20 etc no amount of info will save you from a suckout or some brazillian/canadian/russian/chinese deciding to play silly buggers and late reg i find saves you time and increases the chances of your decent hand holding

I don´t like tourneys with late registrations. Some tourneys have a late reg from 2 hours or so, that´s boring in my opinion. The blinds are high and it´s only a gamling in this time. 10 minutes are ok. And a lot of late reg tourneys are rebuy tourneys- not my game...

I sometimes register very late but sometimes play from start, there is no big difference to me, but sometimes i don't like to wait a lot of time to people start playing, because when it is early people very hard call big bets and ypu win small amount of chips only, so when you start late it is bigger chance that someone call all in.

Some tournaments which are rare and mostly in smaller rooms, are easy to score money
with late registration. By the time the registration is over, you are almost in the money.
So you are getting paid from the moment you sign in, and then you lotto it, to some more Smile
