Dani "Ansky" Stern Says Goodbye to Poker

Throughout the years, Dani "Ansky" Stern has made a pretty good living whilst playing poker, either as a high-stakes online player, or competing at live and/or online tournament events. However, just recently last week, he has now decided to announce the end of his career as a poker pro, and on Friday October 13, he wrote on his Twitter page:   Checking his online records, Dani Stern's [...]   Read more » Dani "Ansky" Stern Says Goodbye to Poker

It really is crazy that this guy could win so much money and, maybe, has to retire from poker after losing it all. I really hope he has invested some of his winnings but i doubt it

Damn watched that reality show , was fun to see what can you do , when you are a good player in poker ... But i guess it only shows , how hard is it to be a good player in these days and to earn money by playing poker , even top player can go broke !

It is very desolate to lose a few years in a row with high-stakes PLO. I do not know why he did not quit omaha and try to play a lot of poker holdem. Maybe it's better for him. Now will have more movement and relaxation without gambling in his head he lost a lot of money and is upset. Aww crap!

He still got some money left. A very nice amount of it and probably though not risking
it, but keep playing poker.
You can start a whole bucnh of businesses with what he has now.
He could have remained a player one only for tournaments, but probably he has trie that and didnt
wok Smile

well I'm not sure whether he has any money left from his poker ride... it kinda looks like he won some huge cash when scored big in fat tournaments, but then lost most of it on cash tables. kinda sad story, now retiring maybe with some cash left until he finds a job to roll on...

For Dani "Ansky" Stern it was good if he played at lower stakes. Could recover from the lost money or maybe he's very upset. Poker omaha is much harder than Holdem poker. I do not understand why he continued to play so much when he lost for a few years. It is very difficult for him and gave up.

I do not believe that this farewell is definitive, it must be tilt after defeat and great loss. A player with the qualities he has and a good history of victories, I think it is unlikely that his departure from the poker tables will be definitive, thousands of players in the world dream, study and work to reach the good level he has

Like some people say in this thread i too think that this guy I believe lost some big money and now is on tilt and this is why he post such ideas, aybe he is tired, maybe some alcohol and of course big loss, so he is bery sad and thinks that poker ni more in his life. But after some time he eill want to play again I think

It is impressive that Dani has won an enormous amount of money playing online and live poker. I guess there have been many ups and downs and it wasn't a short and an easy road. All the best in his future.

How old is this guy? He’s not that old! I get to wondering whether this is a pr stunt and we will see him (or not) under a new alias taking tournaments down on pokerstars and elsewhere in the vain belief that he has retired and our belief that our hard armed buy ins are a little safer knowing he isn’t there to take it from us! Or is it?

yeah like damosk say it can be a situation where he will be reborn under new alias/aliases on various platforms and continue his epic quests with the sole intention to take over the online poker world. but it can also mean that dude has burned a hole in his pocket and decided that it is just about the right time to say stop.

Yes I too think that this young guy is saying not true information, he lost so many money that he is feeling very negative, so this is why he say such things. Nut he also wins a lot of money in his time and this is like alcohol- you try it and it is very hard to stop. So i think he will play poker some time later

If he saw he is going downhill losing the money he had earned till that point,
his decision was a solution after all, before burning everything that he had.
You had two choices there, either stop and keep the rest, or grind to try and win it back.

I never heard anything about this online poker pro. But it was a good thing to have a break for a long time. It seems he wons a lot and so it was a good idea to try new things. And he can come back to the tables every time if he want with new motivation Blink

I do not think he will return to live or online poker. he is very disappointed for these last years because just finished with minus. For other pro players the amount of money does not represent much but for him i think it was too much. anyway, i wish him success in his new career and win more money. Blink
