Report on my last year  0
As usual I finished the year with a profit. I only played for about 6 months of the last year so keep that in mind when you read these numbers.

I started the year with a bankroll of only $17. I slowly got that amount up a bit and at one point it was sitting at $141. I did however get a huge downswing whit literally nothing going my way. Due to this my bankroll diminished significantly.

I did play as many of the Monster Series MTTs as I could with buy-ins ranging from $2.20 to $4.40 but with little success. I made a few bad decissions but I also got sucked out on the river, A LOT! I'm not sure how much I lost on these MTTs but I would guess around $25. There were a few times I was really close to a cash and had I made at least a min cash on half of those games, I would have ended up close to break-even.

The total amount of withdrawals for the year sums up to about $68. These were made to cover some real life expenses when things were really tight financially.

The amount of my bankroll at the end of the year (not calender year, I count November to November since withdrawals are usually used to help with christmas presents) sits at $22. This amount will be the starting bankroll for next year.

My total profit for the year sums up to $73. The amount isn't a big one but considering my starting bankroll I'm kinda happy with it. I ended the year with 5.3 times the amount I started with.

All in all, I'm happy with my result but I'm hoping to get an even better one next year!

Of course, 73 dollars is a very small amount .... considering that you are playing at small bets with goals to improve the game. Then all this is great ...... maybe next years you will increase the stakes by an order ..... and I look it won't even be 73 dollars but already 730 .... or 7300 ..... Good luck in the game

It wasnt a big amount at the end, if you consider that some other players can win
this amount in a couple of days Smile
But with the number of games you have managed to play in this period of time and buy ins,
it wasnt bad Smile
A small profit is always better than a loss.

And you still have the tournament series you are going to play, and you can hit big there.

Obviously you didn't read the post properly.
"I only played for about 6 months of the last year so keep that in mind when you read these numbers." The very first part of the post staten this. And by not playing more then at the most 2 days a week on average, and after a huge downswing where I lost a big part of my bankroll, and with the fact that I only had $17 to start with, I don't think it's a bad result at all. And the profit for the year was $73 and not $56, and only in half the time that you said.

Next time, actually read the entire message before you assume something.

Not bad percentage wise, but of cause only a small amount of money in total. A lot of players struggle to even beat the rake, so the result is quite impressive. And MTTs have a high variance, so a longer swing with no cashes is nothing to unusual in that format.

I'm really hoping that next year will be better! This was a profit, but a small one. The coming year doesn't start with much better conditions then last year, only $5 more. I am however planning on playing the entire year, not only 6 month, so that should get my potential winnings up a little bit.

First goal on this new year is to reach $55 so I can start playing the $0.55 games. One step at a time!

While you have made a profit this year, with the amount you have won,
you are considered a recreational player Smile
You should have to raise the ante at some point and go after big winnings next year Smile
You just need a nice win in a tournament to give you that extra boost.

Ok,it was my mistake with profit, its not 56,its 73 $,but still this isnt big profit and this you could get just to write posts at BRM forum every day and you would get this amount in 6 months and even more with BRM calendar and other things!
but still I wish you luck in next months and that you earn more then in this year!

Yes i too think this is situation where you can look how you want, because 73 dollars is not big profit for year we all can say, but if you think that you increase your bankroll more than 5 times this is fantastic result all agree

I never said it's a big profit, only that considering the amount I had to start with, the major downswing I got, the fact that I only played for 6 of the past 12 months and then only 2 days a week on average, it's at least a decent profit. And yeah, I could possibly earn that much just by writing here on the forum but I'm not writing pointless posts just to get some points, it's just a bonus for me.

My goal for the coming 12 months is simple: Make $100 in withdrawals and increase my bankroll to $55. Or simply put, $133 profit.

Erru. Well done on breaking out on top in terms of making a profit. Now, next year!

I am wondering about your bankroll management. You seem to be playing at 1% of your bankroll with your buy ins. Is this correct? Have you considered raising your percentage of your bankroll that you play with. Most people recommend around 10%, so this could increase your profits instantly.

I've honestly never heard of anyone ever sugesting a 10 BI strategy as a good bankroll management. It could boost the profit yes, but it could also easily lead to a complete bust as well. What I have heard, when it comes to MTTs, is anywhere between 100 and 200 BI due to the big variance in these games.

I'm gonna stick to the 100 BI since I wouldn't be able to make a new deposit if I bust. I'd rather be safe then sorry.

I too think personally that to have 10 buyins for tournament you play is very small money to have, some bag luck and you have nothing to play your tournament. Now 100 buyins is very secure and for tournament is gios, maybe for sit and go 50 buyins is good

I agree also that is hard to get along with 10 buy ins while playing tournaments.
It can be done at some point with cash games, but that another story.
It is easier to double for example in a cash game, than winning in a single tournament,
your money back. Personal opinion Smile

You are all missing the point. I haven’t suggested 10 buy ins. I have suggested that if you are playing 0.55c tournaments, that is way too low a buy in and you should be hitting a higher buy in to maximise your chance of winning more. Playing such low limits will take you forever to raise your bankroll and should be risking more to earn more and grow your bankroll.....modifying the amount of buy in if you keep losing and move down a level.

That sounds good and all but the fact remains that I only have $22 to work with, risking just $1.10 would take a too big chunk out of my bankroll. I'd rather play it safe and keep grinding the $0.22 games. Relatively speaking, a 1st place gives around $12 on these games and that may not be much in terms of money, but it is quite a lot in terms of buy-ins and that's how I need to be thinking about it. Besides, I have about 1 year to reach my goal and that's really not that impossible, even if I keep playing these low limits. My goal isn't just a cash goal, it's more of a ROI or just a number of buy-in goal.

Good for you erru9107, and good luck to your next poker´s year! I´m a freeroller, a "cent`s player", so I understand your account. If I understand well, you only play MTTs? As you know, that speciallity have the worst variance and the good poker´s players advice that is necesary a bankroll of no less than 200 buy-in. Maybe you want to try the SnGs that have less variance, but the playing is very similar Blink

Any profit at the end of the year is excellent, it does not matter if it is $ 1 or $ 10,000, the statistics show that only a small (percentage) number of people who bet is finished annually in profit.. This year on betting I lose around 5k and still playing ( never give up ) Big Smile The only good thing for me is, its hard deposit money from Serbia to some poker room and that's why I mainly play freeroll tournaments Smile Cool
