I read in another post that if people couldn't understand that the posting mob point system wasn't for reaching 5000mob points. I only been here for a short while and I have to admit that the thought has crossed my mind but when I first start to write a post I cant seem to keep'em short and I actually don't want too. I'm already getting a little tired of reading 5 letters posts. So I was thinking, what if there was a weekly competition for "Best Post Of The Week" I'm not sure what the prize should be but something that motivated people to make thoughtful/funny/interesting posts maybe that way we could eliminate a lot of bad postings (maybe). You already have the thumbs up/down so I guess it wont be a big deal to implement this into the site. To encourage people to vote there could be 1 mob point for each casted vote or 1 mob point for each 10 casted votes (that way we can make sure people wouldn't vote just for the mob points either). Well just my 2 cents.

I like some parts of your idea. It shouldn't be a problem to make a list of ie. the 3 highest rated post for the past 7 days or something.
I'll try and run it by the management and see if we can come up with something. Cause we would like to remain the 10 points for GOOD POSTS but also try to lower the amount of "bad posts" just a little bit.
But basically, the strategy right now is, whatever we can do to increase the action, activity and enjoyment from the users towards our site and forum, we will try to do (within reasons).

I thinks it a good idea from mastergryne to improve the forum with awarding good posters, But the idea of the admin i like the most. 'bad' post giving no or low points and give good posts the normal points. But don't ban out short post because sometimes you can only give a short reaction but it's fair if you don't get any points for that.
It's also an idea to give only mob points for forum related posts to poker, so the admin set up a few forums that only will give you points and if your post is related to that specific subject. This allowes people to make post in other topic about whatever they wan't but the only won't awarded for it

That just gave me an idea... how about, a post HAS to contain a certain number of characters before it will issue points?
For instance, a post like: "good luck" or "that's nice" will not give any points, but if it's longer, like: "yeah I tried that too, hate those bad beats. good luck with it!" - will give points.
shor post not always are spam.. making a bestpost of the week sound good idea... but i think if BRM make this it come to a masive spam... and some post with wasted of time... couse more topics.. then more ppl can spam... couse 500 post = 5000BRM points.. i think it can be better a "news" sections.. would be interesting to know what happend on poker world or what we miss

Yeah, I think that is the best solution to resolve the whole problem because it's just what you said only a few words like 'okay good luck!' can be considered as spwan or not relevant.
I am tottaly agree with it and by the way sorry for asking what chars means in the Banner topic. after i was wondering I was reading his thread and than it suddenly was clear for me what it meant, so concider the post from me at banner as not relevant and delete it please

Right now, the management and I is really interested in making it so that a post must be of a certain length before it qualifies for points. I've put in a small "(Chars: xxx)" text at the bottom of each post, so you guys can get an idea of the lengths.
We're thinking of making it so that 100 characters (incl. spaces) are required. It's not much, but it's enough to keep the "Nice!"- posts to a minimum, but of course, "Nice!"-posts are not always spam. But it's rarely worth anything, so why pay points for it?

This is a nice idea, it would also at least, prevent a thread from going so long from those little replies. how can the good posts be tracked? by ratings? it seems that nobody cares with clicking those ratings here. but for sure BRM has gone a notch up with regards to forum activity

How about if you guys (admin) just give us positive points if you feel our posts are worth it so as not to abuse the system. only admins can give ratings.

It's quite a big job for us to get trough all the posts and threads Usually a post needs to be read in contexct with the rest of the thread, to determine how good it is

im totally for that idea admin. In any case most of my posts are longer than 100 characters so I wont have any problem. With that. This is one of my shortest post. Actually there are 2 congratulations which are shorter.
