In desperation, King Krakus promised his beautiful daughter’s hand in marriage to anyone who could slay the dragon. Great warriors from near and far tried to defeat the dragon but failed. One day, a poor cobbler’s apprentice named Skuba set out to slay the dragon. He stuffed a lamb with sulphur and placed it outside the dragon’s cave. The dragon thought it was a harmless lamb, and ate it. After that, the dragon became very thirsty, went to the Vistula River and drank nonstop. The dragon’s stomach, being swollen from drinking more than half of the Vistula River, suddenly exploded. As promised, the King’s daughter married Skuba, and they have lived happily ever after.
