The chipleader in the EPT event in Prague, Fredrik Nygard, is a known hustler who currently lives in Sweden. A few months ago he went to a Swedish newspaper to tell the story about his life and he said he was doing this in order to warn other people about his scamming behaviour.
Fredrik Nygard has a long history of hustling people out of money and it started already at the age of 16 when he used to tell his parents that he needed money for school books when in fact he was gambling away all of his money. At the age of 16 he had already lost over €6000 on his gambling addiction.
Later on in life he moved to Las Vegas where he has been scamming a lot of well known poker players out of money to fund his own gambling.
The reason why Nygard went to the newspaper with his story was that he did not want to live this way anymore and he wanted to make sure he would not be able to scam anyone anymore after publishing his name and a picture of himself in the newspaper.
When he met up with the newspaper he was broke and he was also without a home. This was back in March 2008.
Now in December of 2008 he is the chipleader in a huge live poker tournament, the EPT event in Prague has a first price of €774,000 and the question is what will happen with the money if he should manage to win...?
