The end is near for Pokerroom.com

The end for Pokerroom.com and its existence is getting closer and closer every day. Pokerroom.com was one of the biggest and most popular poker sites to play poker at a few years ago. And now they are trying to encourage their customers to transfer their money to bwin instead.

In December 2005, the Swedish owned company Pokerroom.com and Ongame was sold to the Austrian company bwin for about 411 million euro. Half of the money went to the founders and brothers Oskar, Karl and Johan Hörnell and also to their dad Erik Hörnell. But the one that received the most money was Claes Lidell who had the most shares in the company. At this time Pokerroom was one of the biggest in the world and it was a huge success in North America.

Today players are encouraged by their new owner (bwin) to transfer their money from Pokerroom.com to bwin before the pokerroom is closed down. Many of the players has also been offered different rewards if they start playing at bwin instead.

I think that when a company is going to close down its activities is never a good news.
I hope employers have a new chance and don't lose their job.

Bwin is not a particulary good poker site - the system is filled with errors and the support section is very poor too. I've been playing there for years but its getting worse so i'll need to find a new place...

This was my first room I played in. I trained my play on play money there. There were a lot of normal players to play with. At that time I knew nothing about no deposit bonusses... Now I don't play there of course.

This was also the very first poker room i ever played in ... still remeber the time when i didnt know how to play texas holdem.
The pokerboom is over long time ago and im sure many more pokerrooms will fall due to the economic crisis .

Yep. Ongame clientsoftware is poor. But this keeps the real sharks away from the tables. Cool

For the last 5 years I've heard about how fishy Ongame is so all regulars seek to play there to empty the fish tank. The concentration of fish must get thinner and thinner or Confused

The ongame sites are all casinos or bookmakers too. So they grow their own fish. Smile

Yes I know but they have to grow alot Big Smile cause it's like Mekka for all the regulars I know. But apparently the casinos grow sufficient fish to keep the wheels spinning Smile

I played shortly at Mansion when they were on the Ongame network, couldn't stand the software Aww crap!

THAT is the other point. It is very difficult to multitable with that rubbish clientsoftware. So the grinders play somewhere else. Smile

I dont think this is such a bad thing, just like a casino getting knocked down to build a bigger one.

Less skins in a network are never a good thing. Less chances to get a good bonus/rakeback.
 B1gfoot27/03/2009 19:03:33 GMT
thats true
