HighStakes: Gus Hansen won over $2,000,000 last weekend

Posted on 30 April 2009 by "T".

Gus Hansen had a rough start of 2009, loosing lots and lots of millions. Now however it seems like he's getting back on track as he has been playing much better lately and also thanks to a friendly board that has been running his way. Last weekend he won around $2,000,000, in just 2 days. This big win makes up for a lot of the money he lost in the beginning of the year.

Gus Hansen is a player that you won't find on lower limits, no matter the game. Only the highest possible stakes are good enough for Mr. Hansen, and it doesn't matter if he's been doing good or bad. This of course makes the swings enormous on the limits Gus Hansen plays. In the beginning of the year he had a a really tough time and nothing was going his way. But last weekend one could see a change in his style of playing which seem to have paid off, since he won around $2,000,0000 in just 2 days! Now we can only hope that he continues like this and turn the 2009 bankroll from minus to plus.

This guy Gus is really one of the best players of the XXI century. It should be really hard to beat him. I once saw him for about 30 minutes and its is very unpredictable with the hands and the position he decides to go, and that is what makes him very good!!! You never know if he is AK or 23 and he plays always very agressive! Congratulations Gus, i still think that one day we will meet at the table. Than, we'll see... Smile

------------
Oh, i forgot to say: Gus, when you decide to make your tournament associated with BRM, tell me, so i can finally be at a table against you Smile

Looks like working on weekends pays off big time. Big Smile

A lot of that money came from durrrr and one of the Dang brothers.

Those swings are so huge. I will never be a good player because i can't stand large swings. One day i lost $900 and i was depessed... a few week later i won $500 and i was on top of the world. LOL

Gus Hansen is an excellent player, so, for me it is no surprise his winnings. But he is a very aggressive player, so he can win a lot of money in a short time, but he can lose a lot too! But he has excellent poker skills! no doubt about it!

Ya, big swings in high stakes. I don't know why there are some players that will play anyone instead of finding weak opponents at lower stakes. But I guess it makes for good entertainment Smile

BTW, is Gus on Team Full Tilt?

Must have brass goons and buckets full of $$$ to play on those tables. To have no brains might also be an advantage. But what a player Worship . Maybe I will get there one day, cause I already got no brains and brass goons, short of the $$$ for now. BRB don't you have bigger No Deb Bonus for me????

Really nice agressive player... Congretulations to Gus! Agression is right strategy!
 xrn04/05/2009 09:00:32 GMT
It's so hard to be a winning loose-aggresive player, but he's great at what he's doing. Keep up the good job!
 river_mantel04/05/2009 10:43:34 GMT
not bad for a weekend id be happy breaking even at the minute lol

It's logic that he just won big as he lost a lot at the beginning of of the year. I think he really wants to crush the high stakes games at FTP, I saw that he really improved his online game but still far away from Dwan's online skill... Cool
