WSOP - Main Event: Phil Ivey makes it to the final table!

Posted on 16 July 2009 by "T".

The 2009 WSOP Main Event attracted not less than 6494 players (who paid $10,000 buy-in each), of all these participants, only 9 players "The November Nine" still have the chance to win some serious cash on the final table in November. One of these 9 players is no one less than Phil Ivey from team PokerStars.

Phil Ivey is one of the 9 players who will play the WSOP 2009 main event final table in November later this year. He brings a quite small stack with him to the final table, but he's for sure the best of the remaining players. And who knows? Maybe he can manage to double up his stack 1 or 2 times and have a good chance of winning the tournament? Many people would probably agree with me when I say that it's an incredible achievement by Phil Ivey to have made it this deep into the tournament. No doubt about that! But if he could manage to take down the whole tournament as well, he will write history as he would become the first poker pro to take home the main event since 2001, when Carlos Mortensen won it. And if Phil Ivey takes home the main event he would get his 8 WSOP bracelet and he would have $19 million in total tournament winnings.

Here are the 9 players "The November Nine" that will play the final table.
Seat 1: Darvin Moon - 58 930 000
Seat 2: James Akenhead - 6 800 000
Seat 3: Phil Ivey - 9 765 000
Seat 4: Kevin Schaffel - 12 390 000
Seat 5: Steven Begleiter - 29 885 000
Seat 6: Eric Buchman - 34 800 000
Seat 7: Joe Cada - 13 215 000
Seat 8: Antoine Saout - 9 500 000
Seat 9: Jeff Shulman - 19 580 000

he's short stacked, i don't think he will finish in top 5., but if he can bounce back early given his experience and talent, he can surely win it,good luck to him.

Phil Ivey writing history? Your text may confuse people who do not follow news of poker. Those who won the WSOP without being professional are the ones who have made history: achieving something that only professionals should be able to achieve.
Now, if anyone can make it, just needing to have money to pay the buy-in, what are pros for? What do they have more than other players?
Sorry Phil Ivey, but you have to win this final table in November to make me admire you. That will be the proof that you are really pro, really good. If you dont, you are a player just like me, except you have a team behind who pays your buy-ins.

It was amazing of course!! Great experience, Will try to come back Big Smile
Day 1 I played well ended the day with 52K, called a huge bet from Ivey on a sick board, he was bluffing Smile On day2 I started really well, won 30k on the first level of the day, on the second level I started playing too many pots and ended up making bad decisions, got short against limped pocket aces and went all in with pocket 7 against AK and the ace came on the river... next time I'll be better prepared for sure Cool gotta love BRM for the opportunity !!
