Ernie Scherer III is the name of a poker player who did very well in different live tournaments between 2003-2006. In total he has won around $340,000 in different live tournaments. Unfortunately Scherer always found it very hard to hold on to his money, and the expenses always been greater than his incomes. Scherer was so buried in debts last year that he decided to take very, very drastic measures.

He drove from Las Vegas to his parents home in Pleasanton, California and stabbed them multiple times in the neck, then drove back to his home in Las Vegas, where his wife and baby son were waiting for him. Ernie Scherer III was less than a year away from inheriting upward of $1 million.

His parents, Ernest Scherer Jr, 60, & Charlene Abendroth, 57, bodies were discover on March 14 when a Castlewood Country employee checked up on them at the request of their daughter, Catherine Gray, who had become worried after not hearing from her parents for more than a week.

Ernie Scherer III quickly became the main suspect in the investigation as they found out that he owe his father, Ernest Scherer Jr, more than $600,000 and that he had been trying to buy a gun for quite some time.

Ernie Scherer III is accused for both the murders and is now risking death penatly (Californian law). The court proceedings start on November 1.

I'm pretty sure this is the sort of thing that's generally regarded as tragic.. I would imagine if you were this guys sibling and otherwise related to the family, you'd be thinking 'this is pretty tragic'.

what a sad and shameful thing to do for a son. if hes guilty he must be given severe punishment cause he deserves every bit of it. another proof anything can change in life, doesnt take much time.

Omg! fucking crazy player... Its necessary stay with soul and head in control... some mad guys can appear in our tables!
 Aggro66614/10/2010 16:06:23 GMT
fucking crazy act, but even worser is in anyway the death penalty .

I suggest, any judge and governor who is responsible for the execution of the death penalty on a human person , and afterwards the person was found not guilty, are murders as well and have to be subject also to the death penalty, that would be very fair, or?

I hope he get's it...idiot

I would think that a good poker player understands risks and such, even in real life, and would avoid stabbing his parents in the neck, when he is such an obvious suspect?

Although, judging by the picture, he looks like a psycho killer. Glad I didn't draw out on him in some turnament... :O
 whamboozeled15/10/2010 11:28:36 GMT
what about innocent until proven guilty???

I read a lot of harsh comments here but nowhere in the article it says he is guilty. Is he just accused or is the trial over and he is guilty???

if anybody was a killer who looks like a psycho killer then we would have a lot of more psycho killers, such argument are bullshit and make me feel sick

I thinkg that you are spending a lot of time watching CSI, Law & Order, The Mentalist and more police series where unhappy inoccent people are accused...

Joran v/d Sloot hase killed 1 girl in Peru, and also his the biggest suspect in the missing of Mathalee Holloway ( usa ).
He needed cash cause this retard was also addicted to gambling ( online poker ).
he cannot get dead penalty this pisses me off, i think this guy dosn`t deserve anything.
A bullet is to expensive, so i see lets hang`em.
ur nothing but a sad retarted no good for nothing shitface if you kill any1 for money.
No 1 hase the right to take a life, and there must be some revenge for the family that lost a loved 1 that the didnt hade to be lost. Aww crap!
 DaMessiah66619/10/2010 16:19:46 GMT
If he did it, he must pay it. Unfortunatelly if he had done that here in Spain, he would be in jail no mora than 15 years. Justice here is a joke. The only thing I like from USA is the dead penalty for people who really deserve it.
 Klion02/11/2010 09:44:26 GMT
The word allegedly generally stands between any given news outlet and a large lawsuit...

And it's sad that people have such a strong opinion on his innocence or guilt based only on a horribly written, and therefore factually suspect, article. Looking into it more deeply, it sound likely that he is both guilty and incompetent, but still.
 lennyskynard02/11/2010 11:14:01 GMT
I would hate to see him if he really got mad at the tables.

------------
He would make Phil Helmuth look like a Pussycat.
 dule-vu02/11/2010 14:31:02 GMT
this is only for death penalty, electric chair or something like that!he dont deserve to live!hate when this kind of people go in prison and live like he didnt do anything!
 LSlaughter02/11/2010 15:02:29 GMT
thats a real tilt.
 jpoblong10/11/2010 11:24:59 GMT
this man does not deserve to live. killing your own parents does not solve your debt dude.. their is god who will make the final judgement.
 Indo36M06/01/2013 13:46:33 GMT
The best punishment for an "animal " like him,is first to spend 25 years ,23 hours and 50 minutes alone in a prisoncell, just 5 minutes fresh air,5 minutes to clean his sick HEAD,after10 years he's broken, then he will begging to put the injection in his body, not yet, lett him rot away, let him think that, everyday is his lastday for another 15 years or more, after that, let him think( for 2 weeks ) thathe won his appeal, and if they succeed that he thinks he won his appeal, then it's time for the death sentence, and not whit that injection,no put that MONSTER on the CHAIR,
and give him the FULL MAX of POWER,untill the HEAD will EXPLODE !!! AND for WIEBEPOKER,Joran van der sloot, was reconized by another man in the casino in Peru where Joran, killed that girl, what i dont understand is the fact that the man who reconized Joran DIDN'T DO ANYTHING,He knew that he was a suspect in the
case off Natalee Holloway, but he keeps his MOUTH SHUT,if he told it there to the
SECURITY,I'LL BET that STEPHANIE FLORES WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY,But that man, didnt do NADA,NOTHING,But over 28 years ,he have to face to Court in USA
so Joran,i hope you will enjoy it there, youre ASH,is their SAFE ,sleep well,ADIOS
