Full Tilt Poker has just announced on its website that it has signed tennis star James Blake to its "Friends of Full Tilt" list. Blake turned pro back in 1999 and since then he has played against the top tennis players in the world and won 15 titles. He was also voted the the world's sexiest athlete in the People's 2002 Sexiest Man Alive issue.

As you already might have figured out, James Blake is pretty good at playing poker as well and his top result so far is a second place in the 2nd season of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown. I will be interesting to see if he can achieve even greater results now when he's playing for Full Tilt Poker! Good luck on the tennis court and at the poker tables, James Blake!

What's the point? Is this supposed to encourage tennis players to play poker cause James Blake does? I guess it works, cause if it didn't FTP wouldn't bring him on. When do the poker sites start sponsoring NASCAR? I hear there are a couple of teams looking for sponsors for next year

good deal for both of them, it will atleast generate some publicity for them and if he plays well thats a bonus Blink anyways good luck to him, lets see what can he do against the pros

Psychologycally both tennis and poker are high tension games. In both aggressive play is risky but is also the way to go if you want to win. Having 3 match points or 90% of the chips means you are almost certain to win, but you need to have it all to really win, it can be quick or take a very long time, and losing is never impossible. Serving in tennis is the poker equivalent to play in position. etc...
Probably this "similarities" are the reason why so many tennis players are coming to poker.
