HighStakes: July - a disaster month for durrrr and Phil Ivey

July was a terrible month for some of the poker world's best players, and notables such as Phil Ivey, Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Cole South all ended up on the month's top 5 losers list. Luckily one notable managed to make it to the top 5 winners list and saved some of the high stakes world's reputation. Patrik Antonius had a fantastic winning streak last month ($614,000), he played very solid poker and was never really in danger of losing.

Antonius, however, didn't manage to keep up with the unknown russian "NEKOYAN" who won $776,224. Even though I think that July was a disaster month for the poker world's finest, I must still admit that I'm really happy to see some new faces on the monthly winners list. However, I really miss the crazy high stakes games where millions of dollars changed owner every single day.

July winners/losers
1. NEKOTYAN $776 224
2. Patrik Antonius $614 209
3. LokoIsBack $545 141
4. chipchip $358 998
5. Doesburg $304 976

1. Cole South $496 378
2. Di "Urindanger" Dang $433 381
3. Tom "durrrr" Dwan $430 269
4. Ashton 'theASHMAN103' Griffin $289 059
5. Phil Ivey $279 287

Poker is nothing but a luck game (gambling) ... when the "best" pokerplayers in the world runs out of luck not even they can win.

It's mostly skill, but the amount of luck needed to profit in the long-run is considerable, but not significant. Also, the "best" poker players in the world will always be able to be staked, so even if they go "broke" they'll still be able to compete. Most of us however have to either inject our capital directly, get a NDB or play freerolls. Sad lol

Funny how Durr turned around a "disaster" month in the space of 1 day and 6000 hands to put himself +$400,000... what a turnaround Worship
