HighStakes Report August: Gus Hansen's nightmare continues...

Gus Hansen's nightmare at the poker tables online never seems to end. He has been one of the poker players who have lost the most money ever single week/month this year. Last month, for example, he ended up losing 2.8 milion dollars and took home the first spot in the list of August biggest losers online.

I must admit that he has been very unlucky as well. But still - a big poker star like Gus Hansen shouldn't lose this much money ever month. He must take a good luck at his own game and try to find out what he's doing wrong. Maybe the best thing for Gus would be to play a bit lower stakes for now? Well, somehow I doubt that he will do that, at the same time as I hope he will start winning soon again. We can not afford to lose a player like Gus Hansen from the high stakes scene.

Phil Ivey, Daniel "jungleman12" Cates and Tom "durrrr" Dwan have all played extremely good this year and last month was no exception as all of them won big and took home 1-3 places in the list over August biggest winners. Cole South has had a quite tough time in the last couple of months but now he finally won big and took back some of the money he has lost. Below you find the complete list over August's top 10 winners and losers.

1. Phil Ivey , $1 735 109
2. Daniel "jungleman12" Cates, $1 101 133

4. Jared "harrington25" Bleznick, $729 698

7. "superbaldas", $470 181
8. "DIN_FRU", $451 292
9. Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, $333 583
10. Cole South, $320 928

1. Gus Hansen, $-2 856 898
2. "NEKOTYAN", $-946 019 40

Is Gus a retard or sometin?? Its very obvious the dwans/iveys and patricks are very pleased to have him on the table cos he simply giving them money every time. How stupid can you be, losing every time to BETTER players and still go on, damn Gus you are so stupid Aww crap!
 B1gfoot02/09/2010 16:47:08 GMT
@doomdy yep a retard.
Icant see why he keeps on just handing money over to the as the laugth in his face.
He droped stakes a while back and was playing, well OK, he should just give up at cash games and stick to the tourns.

....I can't believe it.....

Why not??? Its not his money anyway, that is money from his sponsors (he is FTP pro, so they stack him).

I'm not worried about him, he will be playing poker as long as he lives. He'll never be flat broke, doesnt mather how much he lose. It will always be someone to loan him money or stack him.
 edyholdem03/09/2010 20:17:36 GMT
he is the laundry money machine for FTP Smile

To be honest i dont believe it...The players here are maybe on different level than Gus is...

Gus makes his own nightmares playing against to big sharks for him.
Gus can make profit np, just play 1 or 2 stakes lower and he do fine.
 mazas04/09/2010 08:21:54 GMT
gus really on the wrong way off the poker playing he must stop or just play in more lower stakes the he find his game he must back to higher Smile
durr still have + its really good for him but he still was on the loosing way
ivery is really inmpressive now he can easy stop playing then he loosing and play aggressive then he was on the wining way

Yes, it really makes sense - but, is Gus able to admit that?

I don't think this is true. A) I'm fairly sure FTP do NOT stake their pros and B) He can certainly go broke. C) People WOULD eventually stop backing him if he kept losing
 AbuDhabi04/09/2010 12:40:32 GMT
yes, i dont think that fulltilt would be keeping to waste money on Hansen's bankroll...

Every poker pro have contract with poker room. Pros do not play at FTP or Pokerstars for fun. Blink Pros have some kind of credit or sponsorship, for sure.

Gus Hansen will continue to be a big draw for Full Tilt Poker, and there should be little chance of him going broke as he is a Full Tilt Pro and as such has a lucrative contract in place, as a PART OWNER of the site.

Gus Hansen will be active in poker as long as he live. Like Doyle Brunson.
 psycokiller04/09/2010 23:36:33 GMT
Gus can and will go broke at the rate he's losing money. No amount of sponsership can erase those kind of loses.

Yes, thats it, probably he has a lucrative contract with FTP but he definitely cant get so much and so fast what he is losing..
 jessthehuman05/09/2010 01:39:07 GMT
Exactly. No contract is bottom-less. You can't just lose never-ending amounts of money.

Also, as I said, I'm fairly sure FTP don't stake the cash games their pro's play, I think Stojaca mis-understands what I mean by that. I understand FTP sponsors these guys and obviously they receive money from the room as a part of that sponsorship deal, I'm not and idiot. But I
m fairly certain that FTP don't put up the money that these guys play with at the cash tables, in the form of a staking arrangement.
 giginicola05/09/2010 12:12:08 GMT
I don't like this player Smile
 themole05/09/2010 12:17:06 GMT
jess i think is right, when you get a sponsorship deal you get x ammount of money depending upon your contract, obviously he'd use rakeback too so some of his loses are accounted for and recoverable.
personally i like gus, he can and will frequently use tripple barrel bluffs and put alot of pressure on you.
 Funope05/09/2010 19:21:17 GMT
Thats an example of a bad run.
 dule-vu05/09/2010 22:55:39 GMT
he could give part of that huge money to some poor children to get some better school or family who cant work anywhere!when he can lose this kind of money,he will lose much more for sure Sad
 cr1s5t106/09/2010 09:54:35 GMT
I think he`s tilted...he should take a break, go somewhere in a vacation and after a while play poker again Tongue
Don`t worry, he will be back on business Big Smile
 AbuDhabi06/09/2010 10:11:49 GMT
cr1s5t1: but i ask again Big Smile Is he able to take a break? I dont think so - hes addicted..
 triffu07/09/2010 05:36:05 GMT
hmm, good for him...it's good that he has that kind of money to loose.does he have any more money left???cause evrey week you see a new post about another one of Gus is huge looses!!!!

------------
2.8 milion just last month,DAMN he should have bought a small country instead of playing those nose bleed tables Blink
 watoba24/09/2010 20:15:22 GMT
