Is Isildur1 broke?

Posted on 14 April 2011 by "T".

Lately there have been a lot of rumors claiming that Viktor "Isildur1" Blom is broke. Well, the rumors have been around since he started losing big at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables, but many think that it's different this time since he is sponsored by the world's biggest poker site (PokerStars) and still only plays stakes as low as $1/$2.

According to different tracking sites, Isildur1 has lost around $450,000 this year. It must be very hard and frustrating times for him right now. It can't be fun to play for "peanuts" when you used to have millions and could take on the poker world's elite. Of course there is a slight chance that Isildur1 is grinding at the lower stakes just to gain some confidence before returning to higher games. It's probably just a matter of time before we get to know whether or not he's broke.

I think Viktor Blom is not broke. Maybe he has to play stakes as low as $1/$2 because Pokerstars tells him to play this stakes. He has a contract with Pokerstars and he has to work for them, even playing stakes low as $1/$2 plo.

even if he is broke now, he can easily earn some money on lower stakes. but if he loses his money again and again, maybe it's time to give up?

Very much doubt it, he gets about a mill to play from the site, he has made huge profits from plenty of outher sites, his majority of HS games were via 50/50 deals from outher HS players...dont think he will be on e-bay any time soon.

The contract situation is very interesting. I never thought about that, but its probably true that he, as a "worker" from pokerstars "enterprise", has to do what his boss tells him to, so perhaps he has to enter in lots of cash games from different categories. One thing is big events, where his money has no risk because its Pokerstars who tells him to go. Other is smaller events, where he has to continue showing Pokerstars that he deserves to be sponsored and deserves to be in that team, because he continues to give lots of profit to Pokerstars. Its like in football: Real Madrid payed millions for Ronaldo and he has to show lots of work. But then he comes to National team and its not the same effort.

Isildur1 is not broke. Although many people know that he lost 4.4 million dollars on full tilt poker must know that first he won 7.5 million dollars on the same site.
After making his first 2 million dollars on the ipoker network where he played under the username blom90, he cash out and transfered the entire bankroll on full tilt poker.
From 2 million dollars he won over 7 million dollars mostly from tom durrrr dwan on the 500/1000 $ no limit holdem tables. Isildur's adventure on full tilt poker had a profit of 1 million dollars.
I'm sure we'll see him on high stakes tables again soon.

Ha! Doubt this cat is broke when his name alone is worth major $$ to the various poker sites and tournaments he plays in. Also, you know it's a contractual agreement that he must play at the various levels to promote PS. You don't take in the $$ he has and go broke when your name is still thrown around like his. Don't believe for one moment he's on the boat!

Isuldir1 I believe is not broke, he won millions so far in his poker career, just lost some tons, he is on a low profile nowadays in my opinion.

 Fackinas15/04/2011 12:07:33 GMT
I think he support other players and give them chances to fight against Poker Stars Big Smile ... sure it is joke but I do not why he started to play so "low" limit but maybe he really gives opportunity for medium stake players fight with them

"BMWman" i think your IQ doesn't pass 100...Your questions doesn't have any relevance..santa doesn't exists, snow IS WHITE,Negreanu is a Canadian with Romanian ancestry, and about Isildur is not certain yet...
 eberetta121/04/2011 03:00:22 GMT
I would think he is low on funds if he is playing on the $1/$2 table...
